I always like Avery - it was just a matter of time. The kid was a 19 year old rookie who missed training camp in year one, didn't have one this year - yet he's producing.
He's tough both mentally and physically - and he has elite athleticism and a nose for the ball on D and the rim on O.
If he keeps improving his ball handling, which has actually showed significant improvement over last year - he'll be able to get anywhere he wants on the floor.
The only trades or non-signings I really hated was moving Semih - I really liked him as a back up center - and not re-signing Tony Allen.
Perkins was one of my all time favorite Celtics - but I'd still rather have Jeff Green and the Clipper's pick than Perkins at $10 $11 million per year.
I think Danny has done a great job every year in putting together a legit title contender with the following exceptions:
2009 - Very weak bench, wanted Birdman over POB. But even still had KG and then Powe not gotten injured we might have pulled off a ring that year anyway.
2012 - this year - great job with one regret - that we weren't able to sign one legit big man in addition to Wilcox.
It's been unusual injuries, more than Danny under performing, that has resulted in us having only one title at this point.
2009 - KG, who's been healthy his entire career, goes down.
2010 - Perkins blows out a knee in game 6 of finals? When has that happened before?
2011 - If Rondo and Shaq don't get injured I really do believe we raise another title. We were shredding teams, including Miami, when Shaq was able to play even 15 minutes a night.
Drafts? No GM hits every time. The only one that stung me was Giddens. I had DeAndre Jordan in my draft. But I also like Joe Alexander when he came out....and I wanted Kevin martin and David Harrison over TAllen and Delonte West...
