Its a screwed up team for sure, maybe he was smart not to be part of it all anymore. 

Amaire seems bent over , and older everytime I see him on TV...he looks 30 years past his age.

Melo is a team and coach killer

Both with huge contracts

Not looking good for the Knicks.

No wthe poor coach is gone , they need to dump Melo ASAP.

What has he ever won?  The Knicks this year didn't win.  Lin made himself a player it is not like D'Antoni recognized his talent.  He was down to his last option and tried him.   But he was not his first choice.  What are you his brother?

Before I start my rant; we're throwing out that he turned a fringe all star into a two time MVP and at least helped Amare become dominant, anything else we should leave out? Western Conference Finals, maybe? Getting gold out of players who've done next to nothing outside his system? Leave that out?

I was dying for a retort by now, but you guys have got me fired up enough where I don't care and I'm just going to rant:

I don't understand WHY - in sports in particular - when someone provides a unique perspective that they're put under so much scrutiny.

There are, what, TWENTY SEVEN head coaches in the league that haven't coached their teams to a championship yet; most of which haven't and quite frankly probably won't even begin to sniff the type of success Mike D'Antoni has in his coaching career.

He coaches his teams to have a strategical advantage over his opponents and when he's got the parts it turns into a success. Turned Nash into an MVP, multiple Western Conference appearances. But because he hasn't cleared that final hurdle, something FEW have been able to do he's and he's absolute failure?!

It's not 'the team needed just one extra player' or 'his teams ran into some great teams' or 'if his player didn't get suspended in a playoff game he'd be a champion, and forever remembered as a great' (because surely coaching legacies haven't been built off of isolated championships around here). No. The guys is a failure, his system is stupid, and it couldn't possibly work.

Bravo - TP.  It's pretty reactionary and more than a little lazy, and I caught myself doing it earlier.  D'Antoni changed the league and has been more successful than not.  Not everybody can have a fi****l of rings.

I was about to write a tandem rant about Carmelo but then I remembered I'm still pretty lazy, so I'll just say that a guy who's been the best player on every team he's played on, won a college championship as a freshman, made the WCF and has never had a losing season (yet) is one heck of a "team killer" and "loser".  A lot of franchises would kill for those kinds of problems.

He should have taken the offer in Chicago when he had the chance. Too bad, I like him, not sure he's a coach who wins you a tittle but seems like a nice guy.

I don't like hiring coaches who run extreme systems when rebuilding. Limits your options.

Then again, if the team already had the personnel in place required to run D'Antoni's system ... and flourish under his system ... I would be happy to hire him.

the problem is Melo, not D'antoni....the question now becomes was it that melo couldnt fit in D'antonis system? or is he a selfish ball-hog with questionable shot selection who stagnates the offense.

could be a mixture of both...but, the fact is since the Melo trade, the Denver Nuggets record improved, while the Knicks became a below .500team

not to mention the knicks went on a WINNING streak with Melo out...he comes bback?? linsanity is over

No don't hire Pringles. You want to consistently emphasise defense. Pringles WANTS players to switch on the defensive end.

Wasn't D'antoni opposed to the big Melo trade with Denver....
That was probably the beginning of the end of his chance at turning
New York around...

Dolan should have traded Melo just like D'antoni suggested...
He went the wrong way on that mismatch.

Next coach out of the booth Jeff Van Gundy?  He was very pro-bring Melo to New York as if that trade was a no-brainer.  Let's see what he can do with Melo.

His offensive is not boring as some have suggested.  It may have limited plays but that is made up for by the freedom the PG gets.  Rondo would probably do well in it but agree other personnel would also have to be place...
