Celtics fans suggesting to trade Pierce! Wow! ??? I've heard and seen enough on this blog.

Actually, this is based on a rumor being reported.

I doubt Ray's going to any team where we don't get value in return.  That means the Clips are out.  They don't have real assets beyond their starters.  Why would we take a backup, turnover-prone PG like Bledsoe for Ray who we can re-sign next year? The Clips can't trade next year's first either.

I would trade Pierce. Hey, its a business and he be 35. Dont like to see him leave either but we not going to get better next season unless the Celtics get some help.

Get better with who bunch of mediocre player in their best day Pierce would school them.

Batum is role player at best. I can't pinpoint a single offensive skill Batum has. Mediocrity personified.

Wallace losing his athleticism. It's downhill from here on out.

While Batum is not a go to guy like Pierce, his offensive game is still strong.  He is shooting 40% from the three.  He averages 17 points a game as a starter.  And he is a good defender.

He is a top level role player at worst.  A building block, but not one of the key stones.

Celtics need all-stars players and superstars if they want to contend. Putting a team consisting of role players is recipe for disaster.

edit: 9, 11, 9, and 9 are Batum points last 4 games.

Come on now, Change. The games before that: 19, 29, 17, 9, 19, 18, 22, 19, 17, 33. And the majority of those games he had over 5 rebounds, pretty much always shooting 50% or more with multiple steals and blocks. You can't just pick his 4 worst games of the season and call it his talent-level.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

Batum would be the type of deal I could understand for Pierce, though I wouldn't be happy for a lot of reasons.

He's young, but is coming up as a RFA so he'll need to be paid. A very good running mate for Rondo so I could live with it.

I don't get how trading Pierce to a potentially more competitive team is such a bad thing. Does it show him more respect to have him end his career on a lottery team?

I would do this trade. It isn't like we would be sending him to Charlotte.

WOW!! Sign him up for Max deal. 5 times this year he scored over 20points. We can't let a talent like this go elsewhere ::)

Hopefully not too off topic, but it sounds like the inmates are running the asylum here in the Rose City:

Let's just put this way. Either the Blazers find a new home for Raymond Felton and Jamal Crawford (who have quietly orchestrated a mutiny ever since Nate McMillan chewed them out in a video session a while back) or they'll probably have to let Nate go. If I'm a Blazer fan ... I'd rather lose Felton and Crawford. They won't get a lot for either guy, but there is such a thing as addition by subtraction.

Nate be be joining Mike D in the bread lines soon. Either that, or Paul Allen tells his lackeys to ship half the team out in the next 24 hours.

Is it is Pierce for Wallace, I hate it.  He is almost 30.  He is not the piece I would want.

I wouldn't mind. Wallace is 5 years younger than Pierce and gives us 5M in cap room next season. And that's only if he takes the player option for next season.

Rondo + Wallace equals NBA no mans land.  Good enough not to get decent draft picks, not good enough to be a contender
.

I rather have Piece the rest of the season and next season then Wallace.  He may be older, but he is better.  Wallace has no more upside to grow into.

Can't the same be said about Rondo+Pierce?

Ainge probably asked for Batum though (with Wallace or more probably paired with a big like Camby).

Move JO and a second round pick for one of them if we can't get a big. We could use some offense off the bench.

Pierce is still better then Wallace.

I can understand moving him with the eye towards the future, but not for a lesser already reached their peek player.

I agree he's better, but wouldn't a Rondo+Pierce core leave Boston stuck in mediocrity in the next couple of years?

I'm not saying Batum is a surefire superstar (I projected him at Luol Deng myself), but I think you're short-selling him now as a player, and really short-selling his potential.
