I would trade Pierce. Hey, its a business and he be 35. Dont like to see him leave either but we not going to get better next season unless the Celtics get some help.
Get better with who bunch of mediocre player in their best day Pierce would school them.
Batum is role player at best. I can't pinpoint a single offensive skill Batum has. Mediocrity personified.
Wallace losing his athleticism. It's downhill from here on out.
While Batum is not a go to guy like Pierce, his offensive game is still strong. He is shooting 40% from the three. He averages 17 points a game as a starter. And he is a good defender.
He is a top level role player at worst. A building block, but not one of the key stones.
And he's a super young and athletic guy who can run and defend well with a lot to learn. I'd probably be interested in Batum and a first for Pierce, but I'd prefer Matthews. A Rondo-Matthews-Batum 1-2-3 is very young, athletic, fast, great on defense and has the necessary shooting to make it work. Obviously, it sounds like Portland isn't interested in his contract, though, so I don't know if we'll pull this one off.
