Im sick of hearing people say "he changed the culture of OKC" no he didnt, he didnt do squat.

For someone that is responsible for the OKC being a contender.

With all that perimeter shooting from Westbrook and Durant, you figure your $9 million dollar a year "defensive culture changing superstar" center would be able to pull down more then 5 rebounds  a game.

5 rebounds? Our point guard averages more Rebounds then Perkins.

Nobody respects Perkins anymore, they just dunk on him. Around the world hes known for being dunked on by Blake Griffin. He scares no one.

Perkins benefited from playing with the Big 3 and especially KG.

I cant wait to see Perkins smirk at LeBron in this years finals, i bet you that will scare him away and he wont penetrate the paint to get fouled.  ::)

This is my first post.  I voted yes, if only because of the immediate wonders it could do for the team's chemistry.  Also he's a big.

I like Perk and I would take him back. I know its so cliche to say but he really does do things that don't show up on the stat sheet. With that said....

No way does he deserve the money he's getting with those numbers. No. Way.

In a heart beat.  OKC wouldn't go for that, though.

TP!

This is all that needs to be said

Short Term is a Yes. Long Term is a No.

With this team it's time to think long term. Love Perk, but he is more useful in OKC then he is here regardless of what stats say. Enjoy competing for titles in OKC Perk because with your contract we don't have a need for you here.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Sounds good in theory but we'd be paying 9 million for a back up center. That's all Perk is worth at this point in his career.
We need a big that can defend take lobs from Rondo.
Perk is just not good enough around the basket to spend that much money on.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

I find it humorous that the same haters who have to post erroneously about Perk's value to the Thunder always seem to post his wrong salary.

This season: $7.1m
2013 $7.8m
2014 $8.5m
2014 $9.1m

Average salary around $8m for the life of the deal.  Even with the meager 5 and 5 stats, that's not a ton of money for a starting center on a contender, especially one who is considered even by the haters as one of the best low post defenders in the league.

At least try to get the salary right when  you try to hate on Perk and kiss Ainge's butt for a stupid trade, one which happened to coincide with the ascent of one franchise from middling playoff team to top of the conference and the other from top of the conference to middling playoff team.

And for  those who wouldn't want to pay Perk $7.1m this year, Ainge is paying JO and Wilcox over $9m together, and was planning to pay a backuup SF $9m this year before he failed his physical.

perk is always welcome, but disgruntled as he is, it's a longshot that he ever wears that celtic green jersey ever again...next story...

I'd seriously consider it.  The only drawback is the length of the contract and the cost of the final year.

For those that point at his rebound numbers, what's being overlooked is that Perk actually helps his team get the rebounds, even if he isn't the one grabbing the ball.  Go back and watch any old games with Perk on the C's --> he boxes his man out where no one else does.  We need players smart enough to do that because we're getting killed on the boards this year.  He's also solid at setting picks which we have't been as good at this year either.

He's not the most mobile or healthy center but there's no doubting this guy's effort and heart.  He wants to win and loved being a Celtic.  I'd take him back if he can pass a physical and his knee and shoulder look good.

Im not sure I buy this. Do you have any evidence besides me having to watch 100's of old Celtics games?   I mean garnett is pretty much rebounding and playing the same d as he did with perk. Can the same be said about perk in any facet of the game?

I want a center who can play in the fourth quarter and not tempt Doc to go with a smallball lineup.

We already have steamer. Perkins would be a slight upgrade on defense and nothing else, not worth a first round pick imo, specially his contract.

I agree.  I would not do it.  Perk is not worth a first round pick.
