Nets fans love Gerald, and understandably so. He's been a bolt of energy off the bench for them, putting up points in a hurry and playing some quality on ball defense. I know how surprising that sounds, but believe me, it's true...off the ball is another issue though.

His post game is currently 6th (!!!) in the league in efficiency according to Synergy. He's definitely spent a ton of time working on that part of his game. Shot selection in general is far better than it used to be. Still not going to create for others, and he still struggles creating for himself off the dribble, but he's been a blast to watch out in transition, coming off screens, posting up, and spotting up.

think doc screwed him up with his short leash, perhaps he could have developed quicker elsewhere .


Also doc should have played tony alot more, ticked him off and now he one of the more productive players in league elsewhere

Allen and Gerald and now examples of players have developed further elsewhere, far away from doc's minutes head games he plays with younger players

I still think doc is a fine coach, just think he could be a tad more supportive of younger players and play them instead of overplaying his older starters or your dooling/o'neal/daniels types who are washed up vets.

Part of the blame must go to ainge for signing some of these stiffs even though they are relatively inexpensive.

Gerald got plenty of minutes. He was just was not that good.

And what about the other stops where Green was even worse? It took many years for Green to develop. Nothing that Doc did mattered. He needed more years to learn how to play.

You also completely ignore his stints on other teams. Revisionist history. It is in Houston, Dallas and Minny where he didn't get minutes. Doc played him 22 MPG his 2nd year.

How does it make sense to say that Green would have developed quicker elsewhere when he hasn't been in Boston since 2007 and he played on 3 other teams. He has been 'elsewhere' for 4 years!

I believe that Green can have a long career in the NBA as a legitimate scorer. This does not mean that we should have saved a roster spot for him all the years he was out of the league, or that we should even want him on our team now.

Nate Robinson has been a legit scorer his entire career, but I was glad to see him get traded. Just because someone can score doesn't mean we should want them on our team.

Thanks for the injury update. I just looked at the box score and noticed his minutes were low. Wallace has been one of my favorite players even since his Sactown days. I hope that he can find a better situation than the Nets, Ive always wanted to see him in C's green.

I think Green deserves a lot of credit for making a career for himself. I don't blame Doc at all for it, I think they gave Green chances and he wasn't ready. He also wasn't ready in Minnesota or Houston or Dallas. He hadn't yet put the work and time into becoming a legit player. But he got knocked out of the league and worked his way back into it instead of giving up as many would, and many do. His work ethic should be commended. Good for him.

I have no data on defensive statistics but I've watched a few NJ games and GG looks alright. Some blocks, rebounds and good all around hustle being shown. Say all you want about how he's never going to be this or that. His return has been a total success thus far. He got signed for the year, put up good numbers and effort and is in position to be signed again this summer. I think these stats are very solid. I'd love to see him return to the Celts as a bench guy and keep on improving.

A point every two minutes on over 50% shooting is serious production off the bench and the 1.32 points per shot isn't too shabby either.  For comparison, notoriously high PPS guy Paul Pierce is at "only" 1.30. 

Good for Gerald.  The guy's been around the world on various basketball scrap heaps all before the age of 26.  The brain seems to be catching up to his prodigious physical talents.

I'm happy for him. I'm also happy we didn't keep him.. We didn't have time to wait around for him to develop.

Plus he probably would've never improved if he didn't get traded, cut, sent across the pond and humbled a few times. He needed a fire to be lit under him.

I'm happy for him to work his way back into the nba.  He can score at the pro level but the rest of his game is really weak.  Here is to hoping for his sake that he continues to work. 

Against Indy, due to our defensive rotations, weak side rondo was on hibbert.  Shot came from strong side pp hustled down to box out hibbert or at least try and free rondo up.  Green is not doing that or many of the small things that make a nba starter.  I think he'll stick with the right team as an instant offense off the bench guy, against any good team or playing for a good team his brain shows up too much.
