Was that Jeff Green at the end of the bench last night?(to the right, in blue)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RxrRnJeZe60

Look at the end of the clip where the bench celebrates the three from Pierce.. This might be old news from what I know, haven't really paid attention to who's sitting on the side of our bench, but thats got to be Jeff! right?

I really like how much that Jeff Green is still apart of this team. The fact that he decided to stay around Boston speaks volumes about what players think of the city, and the Celtics fanbase once they play here.

I honestly believe that Jeff Green isn't going anywhere next year, and he's gonna play his way back into being a key player on this team.

I agree with your first paragraph. It speaks volumes about the team AND about Jeff Green.

I don't so much agree with your second paragraph -- or at least i would phrase it differently. Jeff Green will go to the team that pays him the most. Period. Maybe that will be the Celtics, maybe not.

The thing is that with his injury/condition, there are not going to be many bidders for him, and the Cs have some familiarity with him, so it is likely that they will "pay" him the most. It is just that the "pay" will not be very much (which isn't a bad thing from the Cs point of view).
Celtics fan for life.

My gut feeling is thatJeff resigns with the Cs next year for below market value with the understanding that if things go well he will get a good deal the following year.

I thought I saw Jeff Green yesterday during a timeout but was surprised the ABC announcers didn't mention it.

I actually think Green will be DA's cap space safety valve this off season.  We all know the Cs have treated him well and made him feel part of the team but that he's also unrestricted.  Other teams will be unlikely to offer a long-term deal after major surgery.  If and when the big FAs, i.e. Howard & Williams, turn down the Cs cap space, DA can offer Green a good chunk of change, say $7-9 million, for one year.  This will help get the Cs to the minimum salary cap threshold, keep a talented (if a health risk) young ball player on the roster, and roll the cap room over to the next season.

Plus if Green plays well next year his value as a trade asset AND an expiring contract will be huge.

If a team wants to give him more then the Celtics, he will be gone.

Green doesn't know how long his career is going to last.  He is not likely in a financial position where he can turn down money.  He doesn't know if his heart issue may return as an issue that ends his career.

Is it bad that I had no idea who that was on the bench?  I went through this year's roster and couldn't figure out who it was, until ESPN mentioned it was Jeff Green.

Surprised the NBA hasn't done something absurd like fine them for having a non-player on the bench or something.

I think that to you, and me, as fans that kind of thinking makes total sense, but in the real world, 'loyalty', and things like it mean bubpkus to most people..Jeff Green included.

wdleehi's point is a solid one:

I see it the same way.

He seems to be  a genuine guy.  And likes being at Boston.  That is nice to hear for change .

I'm not seeing why he can't come back to the NBA with alot of strenght training and have a nice career.

I don't think he will go to who pays him the most at least not his first year back, I think he'll sign with the C's at a reasonable 1-2 year deal player option for the second year maybe. He knows how much all the guys here support him and have shown luv for him, luvs Rondo said on twitter last night he's the best PG out there, also he'll be seeing Docs I imagine for a while that are here in Boston.
