57 points, 21-for-21 from the line.

Even when Rondo puts up an 18-17-20 stat line, I don't have any doubt that Deron is the better player.  57 points is just unreal, though.

I don't understand why the bolded part was necessary.

Is it not possible to congratulate/discuss Williams without bringing Rondo into it and then putting him down ?

SMH.

Congrats to D-Will. Monster game.

I apologize if this comes across in the wrong way, but I don't understand why this post was unnecessary, either.  Rondo vs. Deron has been a debated topic all year, and I wanted to draw a comparison between their two monster nights.  If you think that my opinion that Deron is better than Rondo is "putting him down", I'm not sure exactly what to tell you.

You wanted to draw a comparison between their two monster nights? No. You wanted to hype up Deron and downplay Rondo like you always do. Which is fine, its your right. But don't try to pretend its something its not.

We all know you love Deron and want him in Celtic green. Understandable. Unfortunately it will never happen, so you'll just have to continue to admire him from afar  ::)

Wow.  I'm not sure which one of them had the better game, but that's two incredible games from top point guards today.

Rondo had the better game by far.  You have to go back to the sixties to chamberline's infamous 20 20 20 game for a stat line like rondo's.  truly historic.  Scoring fifty points is a lot more common than a "17 17 17" + triple double.

People need to show Rondo some RESPECT.  Unbelievable how hard people are on this kid.  He is a GREAT player.

21-21 from the line is impressive, but it is also a big chunk of his points.

Are points scored at the FT line diminished somehow?  Only two of those 21 FTs came after the game was iced.  Penetrating and getting to the line is a huge, huge skill that most of the great players in the league have.

I guess head to head play doesn't impress you either.

I'll take Deron head-to-head:

I'd say Rondo's been better over the last 3-4 seasons. At worst, probably even.

That's extremely impressive, but I'm not really sure why NBA.com has it as 'breaking news'. Btw, Rose had 35 and that's still not even on the same level as Rondo and William's games.

I would assume its breaking news because its the high for the season...

Doesn't shock me.  It's true he's better than Rondo...he's the best PG in the league, but I think 18-20-17 was the more impressive/unbelievable stat line.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I'm surprised by the multiple people with this reaction.  Scoring 57 points in an NBA game is impressive, no matter who it is against.  It's not like anybody else has come close to hanging 57 on the Bobcats this year.  In fact, this is only the 5th time anybody has scored 30 on them all year, with Lebron having the previous high of 35.

Can I say that it impressed me more than rondo's Triple Double, until I saw that it was against the Bobcats?

57 is impressive, but it was the bobcats...which makes it slightly less impressive, but overally still impressive

Do we downplay Kobe's 81 cause it was against the Raptors? I have a hunch they weren't so good back then.
Those 81 were impressive but they would have been about 57 against a team that was trying.

We're not saying its not impressive and we all know what williams is capable of. That said if he did it against a really good opposition it would be far more impressive than against the worst team in the league.

Pierce dropping 50 against lebron james' cavaliers. Now thats impressive.

Rondo almost had a triple-20 against a legitimate playoff team as a point guard in a team not known for rebounding. Super duper.

First, let me say that I just got back from the NJ/Charlotte game and it was IMPRESSIVE (Deron I mean.)  And yes, the Bobcats were trying.  They decided NOT to double team Deron and they had a three point shot at the buzzer that would have sent it to overtime.  So, maybe it was NOT a bad idea by Paul Silas.

I DVDed the Celtics/Knicks game and look forward to viewing it.  I did get to see the first 5 minutes prior to heading to Charlotte and the last 4 minutes in OT in Charlotte.  We were playing the Knicks, a .500 team coming in at HOME, right?  NJ was playing a road game, right?  I don't care who you play, a road game is a challenge.

Rondo's games is VERY impressive, but popcornmachine.net only gave him a 36 Eff. Rating and they gave Deron a 54.  There is a clear difference there.

Also, Deron did it in only 38 minutes of a regulation game and Rondo did his in 48 minutes in OT.

I got free tickets for attending Bobcats open house for season tickets for next year and was thrilled to get a chance to witness personally the highest scoring game in the league this year, not to mention a rare competitive game at Time Warner Arena:-)))

Peace,

Smitty77

Does Rondo get extra credit for taking the myth of Jeremy Lin closer to reality?
