57 points, 21-for-21 from the line.

Even when Rondo puts up an 18-17-20 stat line, I don't have any doubt that Deron is the better player.  57 points is just unreal, though.

57 is impressive, but it was the bobcats...which makes it slightly less impressive, but overally still impressive

That's awesome I'm watching the replay at 9:30, it's still free trial week on League pass if you didn't know.

Deron's fallen out of favor recently. I think the emergence of Derrick Rose hurt his #1b/#2 PG status even though he never deserved to lose it. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up and with who.

Wow.  I'm not sure which one of them had the better game, but that's two incredible games from top point guards today.

Thank you, Deron, for single handedly possibly winning the Boxer Rebellion a category that looked lost at the start of the day.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Wow...I am still more impressed with Rondo's performance, however(:

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
21-21 from the line is impressive, but it is also a big chunk of his points. I still believe Rondo's game was more impressive, simply because of how well rounded he was...and 17 rebounds for a pg is ridiculous, especially when you throw in 20 assists...good job, though, Deron - impressive day for pgs.

I guess head to head play doesn't impress you either.

I don't understand why the bolded part was necessary.

Is it not possible to congratulate/discuss Williams without bringing Rondo into it and then putting him down ?

SMH.

Congrats to D-Will. Monster game.

I apologize if this comes across in the wrong way, but I don't understand why this post was unnecessary, either.  Rondo vs. Deron has been a debated topic all year, and I wanted to draw a comparison between their two monster nights.  If you think that my opinion that Deron is better than Rondo is "putting him down", I'm not sure exactly what to tell you.

Do we downplay Kobe's 81 cause it was against the Raptors? I have a hunch they weren't so good back then.

The bobcats are a pile of rubbish. I would be more impressed if williams did this against at least a middle of the road team.

Rondo's game was against a reasonable opposition therefore far more valuable than deron's.

Are points scored at the FT line diminished somehow?  Only two of those 21 FTs came after the game was iced.  Penetrating and getting to the line is a huge, huge skill that most of the great players in the league have.

I guess head to head play doesn't impress you either.

I'll take Deron head-to-head:

I love Rondo as much as the next guy, maybe more. But I think Deron is better, all around than Rondo. He's one of only two players I would want playing PG for the C's other than Rondo.

57 points from a PG is quite a feat. So is what Rondo did. I think it shows the differences in their games and the way they play the game and also what their teams need from them.

Boston doesn't need 57 points from Rondo but they definitely need his rebounding and passing and defense. NJ needs Deron to score, every night. But he is still a spectacular passer and floor general. He might not be the defender or rebounder Rondo is but he is so much better a shooter in every way, scorer and maybe as equal a passer and floor general.
