Boston gets Ryan Anderson, Jameer Nelson
Orlando gets Monta Ellis
Golden State gets Rajon Rondo

Clearly Nelson is a downgrade from Rondo, but he is still a former all star, but Anderson looks like he might be a monster. 

Orlando has a lot of money invested in Davis and desperately needs another scorer like Ellis to pair with Howard.  Also there are reports that Howard doesn't like Nelson, so that might help in that regard as well. 

Golden State gets a superb defensive PG and can allow Curry to slide over to SG (which would be fine against most teams). 


Seems like a fairly even trade for all three teams, though I'm not sure Orlando would want to get rid of Anderson for Ellis unless they were sure it would really affect Howard's decision in the positive.

I could deal with Nelson for 1.5 years (but his contract becomes a negative in this deal, and problem is with R Anderson be a FA. We would need him to agree to a reasonable deal before a trade could be made. Even will Anderson signed for a BBD like 6 mill dollar deal, we still don't get enough for Rondo and taking on nelsons contract, at least draft picks would have to be included.

anderson is a FA after the season (second tier)
could be a nice piece if we can land an howard or williams, but i think he benefits from having howard drawing double teams all night. production could drop off significantly w/o howard.

I keep thinking we have to get a future star big in return for rondo (who, for all his frustrating inconsistancy is one of my favorites).

how about a strait swap with sac: rondo for cousins?

A young player with elite potential. Someone who can become an All-Star caliber player or preferably a top 15 player in the league. Sure.

Less than that, no. I'd rather have Rondo than multiple solid pieces.

That's a bad trade for Boston. Rondo SHOULD NOT be traded unless it's for a package that includes an all star level talent or an all star player in his prime.

Couldn't you say something like that for just about any player in the league.  Anderson has made good strides every single season he has been in the league and is still just 23.  I really like him and think he is on his way to consistent real solid play.  Sure he isn't going to be a #1 on a title team, but he could certainly be a solid starter on a title team. 

Nelson is playing poorly this year, but he is a pretty solid shooter in his career (38.7 from three, 80.9 from the line) and puts up fairly solid efficiency numbers (30 AST%, 6.2 RB%, 16 TOV% - Rondo's numbers in those categories are better but not that much and Rondo has had better teammates).  Yes it is a downgrade at the point, but it is a big upgrade down low (I'd start Anderson and KG with JO, Wilcox, and Bass being a nice rotation), especially going forward.

Not a fan of this trade.  Nelson is a minus and Anderson is good role player.
