You're right that Curry is a better shooter than Rondo. But Rondo's better at defense, rebounding, passing, directing an offense, controlling the pace of the game and getting to the hoop. Those things all matter too, believe it or not. Oh, and it's not 2008 anymore, Rondo isn't playing with three people who can score 20 a night efficiently, he's playing with three people who used to be able to do that.

Yeah,I love when you run out of superlatives to describe Rondo so you just say multiple things that mean the same thing...in this case, controlling the pace of the game and directing an offense.

The fact that you don't understand that controlling the pace of the game and directing an offense are two different things and your low opinion of Rondo's value are probably related.

Both of you cut it with the snarky comments.

Of topic, but I love the word snarky. Not used nearly enough in my opinion.

Haha. I was going to say the same thing, but I was concerned that such a comment might be considered "snarky".

More from Broussard

http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-just-in/21181451/broussard-doc-rondo-clashes-could-mean-trade

Quote
Chris Broussard of ESPN -- who reported on Wednesday that the Celtics are "aggressively shopping" Rajon Rondo -- spoke about the possibility of trading the All-Star point guard on SportsCenter on Thursday morning.

"With Rondo, it's a lot of personality conflicts," Broussard said. "He's kind of introverted, he's stubborn, which can be a strength but also a weakness. And he has trouble taking constructive criticism, and he does clash a lot with Doc Rivers. Now, they know he's a great player and they will not just give him away, but they feel like they probably can't rebuild around him because of the problems they do have with his personality."

Yeah, I saw it this morning on ESPN.

He also covered his behind by saying something to the effect of, "Now the Celtics may end up not making a deal . . . "

Really, Chris? You're saying the Celtics might trade Rondo, might trade someone else, or might not trade anyone? Way to go out on a limb there.

Non-news story. I wouldn't be surprised if it's rival GMs trying to stir the pot.

FWIW, here are some Danny quotes from today's Herald (via RedsArmy)

Quote
“I anticipate him being here for a long time”

Quote
“Rondo and Doc get along fine,” said Ainge. “That doesn’t mean there aren’t bumps in the road. But I think Rondo and Doc are actually better now than they have ever been. But there are other issues that concern us a lot more than that. There’s nothing new to this.”

Quote
"These rumors have never stopped, but I haven’t made a call mentioning Rondo’s name since last summer,” said Ainge. “That was during all of the Chris Paul stuff.

Quote
“Now, this time of year you’re going to get a lot of calls from other teams,” he said. “But that’s just normal. I don’t anticipate anything happening.”

Screw Broussard. When has he ever actually had an inside scoop on something like this, as opposed to baseless conjecture? His entire career is based off of making stuff up and hoping it sticks. I mean, if you write 30 articles each with a different trade proposal for Rondo, each prefaced by "This MIGHT not happen ...", then you're never wrong!

Morons in the media. Why must we take their word as gospel? They are glorified PR guys. Half of what they get is spoonfed to them by the organizations for their own purposes, and the rest is made up.

Curry is younger, more talented individually on the offensive end, and he isn't a malcontent. I'd absolutely love him in a trade for Rondo.

Rondo isn't a piece you can build around moving forward. He's a good complimentary player. His offensive inefficiencies make it impossible for him to be a top 3 option on the offensive end. Curry is much better in that regard.

The only major difference between Rondo's rookie year and this year (and all the years in between) is that he's gradually taking more shots per game. His conversion rates on these shots is generally the same.

His rookie year he shot 33% from 3-9 feet. This year he's shooting 33% from 3-9 feet.

His rookie year he shot 41% from 10-15 feet. This year he's shooting 40% from 10-15 feet.

His sophomore year he shot 43% from 16-23 feet. This year he's shooting 42% from 16-23 feet.

His best 3pt shooting year was in 2009 at 31%. This year he's back down to 25%.

His free throw percentages arent getting any better.
Rondo's lack of shooting ability will just be more of a liability when he doesn't have 3 big-time scorers to pass the ball to.

From Jackie Mac on ESPN:

Quote
"... In all that time we did not talk once about any trades," Rivers said. "There was not one single thing about Rajon Rondo that crossed my desk."

Quote
"My relationship with Rajon is as strong as it has ever been," he said. "Our communication has never been better. I want him here. I can say with almost 100 percent certainty he will be here with us when the season ends. I'm tired of this stuff. It's not fair."

Quote
"Rondo is a moody guy," said one Celtics official, "but so what? Stand in line. There's a league full of NBA guys who are more high maintenance than he is.

"He's a real competitor, wants to get better and he's a real gamer. Doc loves the fact that Rondo will fight through anything to be out on the court."

He'll have other players to pass the ball to, probably including players that can run the break with him. He'll be more effective. Look at the stats he was putting up when the big three were out/playing like crap earlier this year.

I would not want Ellis, Currys ankles scare me

For me, its spiders. And leaches. Man I hate leaches.

Snakes too. I hate Snakes.

Don't forget Lebrons. I hate Lebrons.

But what if Lebrun is holding a snake and has a spider on his shoulder with leaches on his legs. Boy, that would scare me.

I hope I am not being snarky.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Was that symbolism?

Lebron holding Chris Bosh with a Dwayne Wade on his shoulder and Joel Anthony's on his legs?

If so, then you are being very snarky.
