Wow, this would be huge if we only gave up JO ! maybe a 2nd rnd pick or protected 1st.

I would be so happy that Doc would not have to include JO as a starter.

Here's my ideal starting five + bench

KG/Wilcox
Bass/Johnson
Pierce/Beasley
Pietrus/Ray
Rondo/Bradley

In reality I think Doc would in this scenario leave KG and Wilcox at 4-5 and have Ray start. Either way we'd have Bass,Beasley,Pietrus,Bradley off the bench and Johnson that would be a [dang] good team!

The original rumor has already been reported, however his comment that the Celtics deal is close on his chat is new news. Hopefully we don't have to give up a first or Bass. His 27 last night only improved his trade value.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

hmm we'd be one less big body but that to me would be a steal
we get younger with beasley and if he can fit in
rondo, beasley, jjj and green? start of a solid core

as long as we aren't trading pietrus!  he might end up being my favorite player this year

The belated David West consolation prize if it ends up happening.

Can't see why Minny would want JO though.

I have a feeling that Johnson or Moore may be involved. Johnson didn't play last night for some reason. I know Bass was back, but JO is still out so he should have gotten some playing time against the Cav's.

Or that could have just been Doc being Doc, but I thought the kid had been playing solid.

You really don't want to have to give up Bass or Wilcox right now. They are playing really good ball, better than PP has been.

But if they do get him for little, convince KG and Ray to come back next year to mentor the young players this team could have some potential sooner than later.

  Rondo/Bradley
  Rivers(still dreaming on that one)Allen/Peitrus
  Peirce/Green
Beasley/Bass/Johnson(if not traded int he Beasley trade)
  KG/Wilcox/rookie or FA

And I could see half way threw the season Green starting over PP for athletic reasons. This team could run with Miami easy!

I don't get it either why would they do it? but nonetheless do it thats a no brainer.

JO gives us nothing in the big scheme of things not on the floor long, always injured, not mobile etc etc

A veteran presence in the locker room is really needed there and a pick is another good asset to have. Also Darko could be on the move... They wanna move Beasley as well and thus want another expiring back in return.

For just JO, this trade would be a no brainer.

I want no part of Beasley long term, but he could be used in a S/T in the offseason.

Thinking the same thing about S + T. Obviously you can't S +T JO next year so he walks and you get nothing. It's not like he's helping us win a title. In Beasley you position yourself to potentially get an asset or something if he does go somewhere else next year. I wouldn't mind giving him Villanueva money if we can't get a better option back. As a starter he can get you 20-22 ppg. Might not be as efficient as you would like but it's better then nothing when going through a rebuild.

Me too.  I don't think Beasley adds much to the current team.  Not disciplined enough offensively to be a net positive with his defensive/rebounding deficiencies.

The Clippers 1st round pick or a future 1st would have to be going back to Minny IMO. It really makes no sense for Minny to send away a talented young expiring contract for a washed up injured JO.

There has to be another piece going to Minny , hope it's not Bradley...

You could always make the deal a little larger.

We could send JO to Dallas, instead of Minnesota, where he wouldn't request a buyout. Dallas could use him to replace the disgruntled Odom, and backup Haywood for limited minutes. Odom then comes to Boston. The next part of the 3 team deal send Bass to Minnesota, where he would be a better fit than JO would, as he backs up Love. Dooling would also need to go to the Mavs to make the deal work salary wise, but that would be good for them since West is hurt and Kidd and has been injury plagued much of the year.

In a nutshell...

Boston
LO
Beasley

Dallas
JO
Dooling

Minn.
Bass

Think they want JO's (expiring) contract more than JO.  Since Beasley is expiring too, we'd have to include something else in the equation.  A pick and/or a player.

JO + Bass for Beasley + Darko works.  I think I'd do that deal, reluctantly if there's a chance to keep Bass long-term, and as soon as I can if there isn't.  Alternately, maybe we could pry away a guy like Ellington who can score a little but is buried in the rotation.

I'd be concerned about Beasley getting really selfish here (even more so, I mean), given that he's in a contract year.  But I'd hope the veterans and culture here would keep him in line.
