Wow. Kind of an interesting star back for Dwight after some of the bad packages we have heard of. Maybe if you throw in Lin. Haha.

hard to believe Melo is on the table but he'd be a big chip to get Howard.

Melo + Lin and extra pieces for salary/talent
for DH, Jameer and Hedo's contract.

Not sure who'd look appealing to Orlando as a big piece to come in with Melo/Lin but I don't think 2 1st rounder would cut it.

LOL @ Orlando if they think that Melo is going to be a good sport down there in Disneyworld.

Melo + Chandler for Dwight + Hedo?

Could make sense, though I don't think Orlando would have a very good team at all.

Amare + Dwight with Lin and Hedo running pick and rolls could be a very interesting team, though.

Even if he's trying his hardest, their team for the foreseeable future is --

Nelson / Duhon
Richardson / Redick
Melo
Anderson / Davis
Chandler

Not great.

Really? They would have Amare, Chandler, and Howard playing 2 spots. Unless of course, it's part of a series of moves where they then look to trade Chandler to a team needing a big man. Maybe for Monta Ellis.

Doesn't work with salaries - the Knicks have 3 big salaries (Melo, Amar'e, Chandler) with Chandler untradeable (not sure why, the Trade Machine has him trade-exempt).  They've got Smith at a pro-rated $6 mill, and then a bunch of tiny contracts.  So no real room for Orlando to drop Turk in the deal as well.

The most logical way to make this work is Melo for Howard straight-up.  Salaries are virtually identical and the Magic won't get a better player for Dwight.  I don't think the Knicks would give up much more than that after what they gave Denver for Melo, and knowing that Howard will flee Orlando in the offseason regardless.  It would leave the Knicks in even more of a shambles on the wing, but they'd have the best 3-man big rotation in the league.

Interesting idea - it'd be pretty spectacular if it went through.

Unless Chandler is included in the deal, it's a totally losing deal for Orlando.  Their team would be utterly horrible in the short term.  Who starts at center -- Glen Davis?

If I am New York, I am really uncomfortable at giving up both Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler for Dwight Howard.

Taking back a bad contract too in Hedo Turkoglu. Massively uncomfortable.

Who out there is offering a better trade package than Carmelo Anthony straight up for Dwight Howard?

That looks like the winning bid to me.

If this is legit it's not a deal for this year for either team - Orlando would suck at C and the Knicks at the wing.

It's a deal for the long-term where the Knicks look to flip Amar'e or Chandler for a wing in the offseason, and the Magic have Melo for several years and try to build around him, instead of getting Bynum, Brook Lopez, or nothing for Howard.

Since it's Around the Horn I'm guessing it's just hot air, though.

Howard
Turkoglu
Anderson

for

Amare
Chandler
Fields
Picks
Cash

makes sense for both.

NY would have a starting lineup of:

Anderson
Melo
Howard
Lin
Smith

And a very marketable team with Lin, Melo, and Howard.
