Why are you trading JR Smith? You only drafted him a little while ago?

Pistons trade Marshon Brooks and Monta Ellis to

Kings for Demarcus Cousins and 4.11 pick.
I think that is a great move for Detroit. They should trade Greg Monroe now.

I don't like Monta and Tyreke together for Sacramento. Too much self-involved play. Hard to build a team based framework with two extremely ball-dominant guards of their ilk. Plus, Monta will hold back Tyreke's development just like he has with Steph Curry.

You don't think Cousins and Monroe can coexist? I'm intrigued but I'm not sure.
Short term, definitely not. Long term, possibly.

My lack of certainty is why I would trade Monroe. I think he's got really good trade value and by moving him Detroit can build a team that can definitely play together and play at a high level. Rather than a team that could go either way.

For me, I don't think the pay off is enough to warrant the risk. I am happy to take that risk if the end reward is far greater than the trade options but I don't believe that's the case here. So why take the unnecessary risk?

Certainty over uncertainty, in this case.

Had a bunch of offers on both, but the reason I picked detroit is that I love Monroe and thought it would fun to build a futures team around him.  I hadn't expected to get a youngin' who plays a similar role who is his superior.  Still, I think Monroe does some things that Cousins does not (like pass the ball effectively).  I think the two will work well together.  I'd have to be really bowled over to deal either.
Yup

If Haslem is still out there, he's KC's guy. Heat draft Haslem.
Very nice. Best power forward on the board.

Definitely. Really good guy to put alongside Al Jefferson.

Very nice. Best power forward on the board.

I don't know...  He's played very poorly this year.  He's been below-average defensively, and his shooting percentage is around 40%.  He's putting up 6 points and 8 rebounds (still very respectable).

Is a poor defending, poor scoring, good rebounding big man with leadership skills that useful?  And is Haslem's decline an aberration, or a fall off?

Thompson and Thabo were both great picks and folks I was looking at for 4.6, [dang] :P

The Lakers are going to be impossible to score on.

I do like Thabo. And maybe he wasn't the reach I thought.

Thompson, I must be missing something about him.

Also, Ilyasova has been playing well of late. I'm not sure if he's an ideal third big for Minny, but they could run some of the same plays for him that they've drawn up for Love.

I'd have to look again at the stats, but is there a big difference between Amir and JT this season?

That's one reason I enjoy these drafts. I took a look and it’s much closer than I thought. Amir is a year younger, more efficient and he's a shot blocker. Thompson's not. But elsewhere it's a wash or he's just edging Jason out.

No love for the Kenyon Martin pick?

I want to see him play more first.  Right now, he's having a minimal impact.

I knew his shooting numbers sucked but I haven't seen Miami play much this season. Has his defensive play really fallen off that much?

Yeah.  It's hard to tell since Miami plays a lot of up-tempo ball, but looking at Synergy, he ranks 236th in points allowed per possession.  If you look at counterpart production on 82games.com, he's getting handily outplayed at both power forward and center.

It's a big surprise to me, because I'm a huge Haslem fan.  We'll see if he plays through whatever rust he might have.

PG - Brandon Knight, Jarret Jack
SG - Gerald Henderson
SF -
PF - Greg Monroe
C  - DeMarcus Cousins

Jack gives me a solid vet to steady the ship while Knight gets his legs.  Probably grab a veteran for the SF spot.
