SG: Harden
SF:
PF: Lee
C: Camby

Right now, I think we're better than the real Warriors and are on our way to being a play-off team. For GS, that's good.

I love Curry/Harden. Lee's a solid player. Marcus Camby is just sitting there waiting to retire though.

DETROIT BASKETBALL

PG - Brandon Knight
SG - Monta Ellis, Gerald Henderson
PF/C - Greg Monroe

Ellis is available, though I think I'd like to hang on to him for a while to see if he can be a game changer for a competitor who'd be willing to deal multiple up and coming guys for him.

Yup

I meant on your team. That team's not gonna contend while he's in the NBA. He can be productive elsewhere.

So far I have no one to really score, but at least I can stop them from scoring. I'll have to find a gem in this next round or two.

PG: Evans
SG:
SF:
PF: Cousins/Harrington
 C: Hibbert

If anyone wants to offer a scorer for one of my big men, i'd always listen to offers.

Not sure if I like Hibbert/Cousins. But I think you'll be able to find PGs and SFs in the next couple round that will make Evans a great ball handling 2.

I think KC might be on to something here. There might be a couple PGs that could fit the bill here.

Harrington can't play the 3 anymore, can he? A deep shooting three in the starting lineup to space things out for Tyreke would be nice.

Agreed. People may be down on Camby, but only because of his age. His skill-set is a good match with Lee, I think.

I honestly don't know what to do at SF. Go offense, and just try to outgun opponents, or go for a disruptive defensive type?

If anyone in the top 10 of round 3 is looking to move back a few slots, I'm interested in being a willing trade partner :)

I am becoming more and more like THE Walker Wiggle in my old age: less diplomatic, and more biting.  It's only a game, but...

Thanks for the introduction Roy.

PG: Curry
SG: Harden
SF:
PF: Lee
C: Camby

A very strong start. Camby provides three things the actual Warriors sorely need - a veteran leader, firm hand on the tiller; interior defense; and a legit starting center.

And it's difficult to replace Ellis, he was already one of the toughest covers in the league, and this season he's both improved as a playmaker and added some Mark Jackson-inspired post moves to his repertoire. But he's also never been an easy fit along side Curry. Harden may not be Ellis's equal, but he's still a top 10 two guard, still a well rounded scorer, and more importantly a better defender and less ball dominate, a round peg for a round hole in the lineup.

PG:
SG:  Eric Gordon
SF:  Nic Batum
PF:  Zach Randolph
C:   Emeka Okafor

Third pick in every round.

Thoughts on what I've put together so far?

In my mind, a playoff lock next year and a tough out, the sort of team nobody would want to play. Solid defensively on the perimeter, with Randolph and Okafor eating a lot of space inside. And one of the most well balanced offenses we've seen - point guard pending. How many teams this side of Miami have the luxury of a pair of knock down shooters on the wings, who'll also get to - and finish at - the rim. That AND a high post, low post game.

I can only add that the TrailBlazers obviously miss Batum, who was going to be impossible to replace in this format. He needs a steady diet of Royal Jelly, but he's able to do so many things on the court, he's already his team's best long range shooter and will make momentum shifting defensive plays, even if he isn't yet a great defender.

This year? If you want to chase a playoff spot, you need an emergency starter at the 2 and a capable third big yesterday (maybe someone fleeter of foot), and that's without skimping on a starting point guard, preferably a true player maker (versus a Stuckey-esque combo guard).

But you wanted the degree of difficulty points when you passed over the San Antonio Spurs.

Okay, here's what I've got after some head-spinning negotiations with my esteemed rival Evantime.

PG Lou Williams
SG Wes Matthews
SF Gerald Wallace
PF LaMarcus Aldridge
C Elton Brand

I didn't understand the assignment. I was supposed to assemble a better version of the Portland Trailblazers, but instead I assembled a better version of the Philadelphia 76ers. So I don't know. My dog ate it.

Not sure about how solid they are defensively on the perimeter - Batum has horrific defensive stats and Gordon is tiny. If Batum lives up to his potential, this is definitely a very scary team, but to me that's what is holding it back right now.

Not sure about the Brand fit at center but otherwise awesome squad.

Solid not special.

Gordon is strong and gets up into his opponents really well. I acknowledge that Batum makes great defense plays without being a very good defender, but he's trending the right way and his pick and roll defense has noticeably improved (0.78 PPP on 32% shooting). And Okafor is an underrated defender living in the long shadow of being a 1st pick. He'll cover a lot of lapses.

Well, he's a below the rim 6'9" player. BUT...

He's played his fair share of minutes at the 5 with Philly's other big men banged up,  and still ranks 6th in the league in PPP allowed (0.59) , 7th in post-up defense (0.53) while posting slightly better PER differential and +/- at center. It's not ideal, but he can do it, and I can rely on both LA and Crash to play bigger than their opponents on most nights. (That's going to be most important on the glass. Brand's rebound rate is seemingly where his game has declined most.)

Offensively I think it works better. Brand remains a great pick and pop guy with some grit, and a nice touch inside.
