I keep saying that the Perkins trade was a very smart move, business-wise! We got a very good player in Jeff Green, a serviceable center in Krstic and a valuable 1st rd pick in this year's deep draft! It's not Danny's fault that Rondo checked out, Shaq wasn't healthy in time for the playoffs, CP3 came to the Clips, and Jeff Green got a heart ailment.. Perkins' health was questionable and he would've walked in the offseason anyway.. It was just bad luck that befell the Celtics after the trade.. Call it 'Curse of the Kendrino' ? (Like Babe Ruth's Bambino)  ;D

wrong, wrong, wrong.

calling Green a very good player is laughable - the guy is soft as jello and does nothing really well - he does a bunch of things with mediocrity - plus he doesn't have any appetite for the battle.

Kirstic is long gone. with Perk last year, we make a strong run at #18, with Kirstic, we don't even sniff the finals.

Rondo "checked out" because of the Perk trade, so that is Danny's fault. Danny didn't understand the makeup and chemistry of his team well enough to know what was going to happen. this group is a very emotional bunch. they had the best chemistry in the league and shared a group need to avenge the game 7 loss of the previous year.

finally, when are people going to realize that Perk was going nowhere. he wanted to be in Boston and would have taken a little less for a little security. if we could pay Green or West close to $10mill per, we sure could have afforded Perk.

wrong wrong wrong.
Perkins was on one leg. JO and Krstic were both better than Perk could have been last year.
We then would have to fork out at least 8 million per year to keep him and his 5 points and 7 rebounds a game (made up stats- don't quote me).

Green wasn't even given a chance to play. He came in half way through and never had starter minutes to prove himself playing with our teams better players.

We also got the pick from the Clippers.

Stop living in the past.
From a team chemistry stand point- the trade may have been a mistake. But from a business perspective it was excellent.
It's just a shame we couldn't get James Harden instead.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.

They have no assets on the floor from the trade.  No assets on the floor a year later after trading their starting C.

I think you missed the part where I said it wasn't Danny's fault that the Oneals got injured, Krstic left, Murphy didn't fit in, CP3 went to the Clips and Green had a heart issue..

We got the best player in the trade, and a pick, for an overrated injured player who was demanding too much.

Green is injured, but that was unforeseeable at the time-he will be back though.
We have a pick that could go as high as 17. Who would have predicted the Clippers getting Chris Paul? Good news is that now he is injured that hurts their chances and betters our chances.

Hindsight and predicting heart problems, and predicting the NBA blocking trades to teams is one thing, but if you think we didn't win this trade at the time then I don't know what you would like.

If the Celtics got the best player, how come the Celtics were better before the trade the Thunder are better after the trade?

The Celtics have replace Green already.  They have not replaced Perk.

Was there a big change in those players last year the day the trade happened?  Because the Celtics got worse then and the Thunder got better then.
