Desperate times call for desperate measures.

First, I don't feel that the Cs are in desperate times yet, as some others might think.

Second, I also don't think that taking a chance on Gilbert Arenas is a desperate measure, as some others might think.

The guy can score, Van Gundy never gave him a chance (admitted by Van Gundy himself, see:http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1010940-nba-rumors-why-the-league-is-terrified-of-gilbert-arenas)and we can get him for cheap.

Arenas was amnestied and cleared waivers. We can get him for the vet minimum.

Arenas has expressed an interest in playing for the Heat, Knicks, Lakers or "whatever team DHoward ends up on". I suppose that those sentiments alone should make us discount him, BUT.....we need scoring and he can score.

Also, Arenas has always been a Celtics hater, especially making them want to pay for passing on him in the draft.

Nonetheless, Arenas wants to win, and our veteran presences can temper his goofiness.

He's worth a flier at the vet minimum. If he acts up, cut him. Low risk, high reward potential.

He was given the ball and a green light in DC last year and failed to be the same player he once was.

I think he is shot.  (bad joke opening)

He has lostr so much athletically that he is no longer effective.

My guess is that he still doesnt have the strength in his legs to get to the bucket consistently and that is why teams wont touch him.

This guy has always been a chucker, but he used to combine that with an amazing ability to draw fouls. Now he is just a chucker.

I would give him an opportunity. Low risk and potentially high reward.

He's no longer an effective offensive player and he's one of the worst defenders in the entire league, no thanks.

In the NBA, when you lose it, you lose it fast and don't get it back.  Think Stephan Marbury.  At this point, with a short season, I don't even see how we would be able to work him in unless he was willing to go to D-League.  It wasn't all that long ago where I would have been willing to consider this but that time has gone.

Considering all we have to offer is vet. min. right? So, what the heck. Give him a shot, very low risk investment.

This.  If he has magically gotten himself back in shape, and his explosiveness is back, then that is one thing.  But, based on what he has been the last couple years, I just don't think he can help.

I'd rather give the minutes to Dooling/Bradley and see if the can become more comfortable offensively.

Gilbert Arenas?

Zero chance of it happening.

Who would you cut?

I say we go after Mickael Pietrus instead.  He's coming off knee surgery, but word is he'll be ready to play some time this week.

He has shown the ability to be an excellent perimeter defender and a guy who can knock down corner threes.  I think he's just what we need.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Bradley still has ways to go development wise, and I Gilbert wouldn't take much away from Dooling. I envision them playing together. If anything, he'd take away minutes away from Marquis, particularly when Pietrus comes back.

He may not be as consistent as before, but I think he can still be an effective dangerous player, and I think on our second unit he'll have a lot of liberties to play like he used to, something that the Magic restricted him on doing so.

If anything, he'll give as a very good spark a few games here and there, and simply be average the other times. When you have someone as dangerous as Arenas on the market, for cheap, you take a chance on him in my opinion. I really got a feeling that he'll fit right in with our guys, and I think that will help him a ton. He never seemed comfortable to me in Orlando, regardless of how he looked physically. Remember, he was being fairly effective in Washington before being traded.

In all, I think he's the type of player we need to take a chance on, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work, but if that's the case, it wouldn't be something that would handicap us going forward. It would simply be a failed experiment.

Moore. Doesn't seem like he's being envision as part of the future, won't help us at all this year, so might as well get rid of him and take a chance on someone that might actually help us out if it works out.

I don't like that plan because playing Dooling at SG so much has already been painful for our defense. Adding another poor defender next to him in Arenas instead of two superior ones (Rondo/Bradley) would mean our backup bigs would be in foul trouble every game.

Remember, he was being fairly effective in Washington before being traded.
No he wasn't, go look at the splits again:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/arenagi01.html

He was chucking up 7 threes per game, and only hitting 32% of them. He also shot 8 other two point attempts at around 45%. This is while bottom of the barrel defense and dominating the ball to the detriment of his team's overall offense.

Then when given a lesser role on a better team he got worse, the C's would give him even less time to work with and would probably get worse results.
