C's have lost to every quality team they played so far

I don't have a trade idea but... I want to know how do we get Gortat... any ideas? I think he is a piece to help us beat these teams. He looks to hit hard (from what I have seen) he's adequate defensively and he can score the ball. What do you guys think?

Yeah, but what good is Rondo to us after this year?  He's shown us time and time again that he doesn't have the game nor the mental makeup to be "the man" and carry the team, particularly down the stretch in close games.  Rondo wants to be a facilitator.  He wants to make other people better.  That's not gonna do us any good after this season when we're rebuilding.

That mentality is what I like about him.  I think he will have the ability to make average players look good, good players look very good, and very good players look great once the make up of this team changes.  

I look forward to seeing him lead this team once it inevitably transitions into a new era.  I understand that there are no guarantees that we will win multiple titles, but I also think Rondo has a good shot of continuing to grow and silencing a lot of his critics.

The overreaction on this forum is hilarious....the celtics had a horrid shooting night nothing the pacers did defensively was special...just the celts shots werent falling and werent rebounding well...theyll be fine

It's not like the C's weren't open for a lot of shots.  they just didn't fall in.

Boston 39.4%.  Indiana 40.5%.  Boston had more foul shots (and 8 less fouls), turnovers were about the same, assists about the same.  The only real difference in the game was the 11 more rebounds (7 of which were offensive) that the Pacers had and the 3 extra 3 pointers.  It also doesn't help that Boston missed 7 of their foul shots (rondo was 1 of 4). 

The reality is, the shooting was bad, but Indiana was equally as bad, Indiana just manned up and rebounded way better than Boston and that I sadly don't think will get much better against the good teams.

I agree it's been a little ugly so far.  Granted my mind can change every week.  But after the first 8 games, without a win over a quality team, I can absolutely see this team being a 6 or 7 seed in the playoffs.  However, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they go on a little run as a lower seed and upset one or two higher seeds.

the team has no depth whatsoever.  Beyond Bass it's a joke.  It's so bad that Greg Stiemsma not only got a roster spot, but actually has played minutes.  Can't win a title being this thin.

better question: can the Celtics expect to get a top 4 seed and win a playoff series being this thin?

im really starting to think that if they actually want to make the most of this year they're going to need to make a trade to become more balanced and get some youth / depth.  that probably means trading Rondo.


maybe we can entice the Rockets to give us Lowry and one of their young big men for Rondo + picks + JO.

Rockets are probably too smart to do that, though.  I'm not sure Rondo is that big of an upgrade over Lowry.

Which of Houston's young bigs are you interested in?  The best of the bunch, in my opinion, is Jordan Hill, and as far as I can tell he doesn't look all that special.

Absolutely.  Legitimate starting center and a point guard who can score, rebound, pass, and defend . . . and hit his free throws.

I disagree.  Lowry is a tough customer, and I like that about him, but I think you continue to underestimate Rondo's basketball intelligence, vision, court awareness, and passing ability.

In my opinion, Rondo has a chance to be an all-time great Celtic, and the beauty of it for me, is that he will do it in his own completely unique style.  

Unfortunately, there's a good shot that he'll get run out of town by a fickle fan base before we ever get the chance to watch him continue to develop into the Celtic legend that I'm convinced he can become.

I think you should start a new thread. Quis does not look the same as he did before he got injured last season. He looks like whatever talent he had on the offensive end has left him.

Danny will do the same. Come February we will all know what we have, either they put together some signs that they can hang with playoff teams (both with a winning record and some wins against good teams). If so Danny looks to add a piece and make a run...... If not? He will move anyone and everyone if he can.

Hoping we are contenders by then but I can honestly see Danny finally moving his vets this trade deadline....

What good is a PG who actually tries to fulfill the playmaking part of his duties? When did having the mental makeup to be the man become the prerequisite of being useful to rebuilding teams? The point of rebuilding is to build a good team and to do that you need good young players on reasonable contracts. And players who as you say can make their teammates better are assets to every kind of team. I don't understand this kind of thinking. Heaven forbid a player tries to facilitate and make his team-mates better. The horror.

Doc and Danny have observed Rondo closely for years now. If we're rebuilding and he's still here obviously they will bring in players that complement his strengths and can compensate for his weakness. It's not like they are planning to surround Rondo with nonathletic players who are poor shooters.   

Agree completely, especially with the last part. I don't understand people who think that Danny will suddenly surround Rondo with terrible shooters, so therefore we should trade him now. Makes no sense.
