Way too early for this. At the moment. He is a more than serviceable third string big man who can put up hefty competition for a spot in the rotation.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Perk can barely walk and chew gum.  With his poor basketball abilitiy, if he was 3 inches shorter he couldn't have made a major college program ,and never seen the NBA.  Lucky he grew fast.

Jokes on you, Perk never played college ball. He came straight from high school. AND as a senior he was 6'8, 2 inches shorter than he is now. Plus, he was the 2nd ranked player in the country. As a senor, he averaged 27.5 points, 16.4 rebounds and 7.8 blocked shots.

A dominant post-up player at the high school level. He has excellent hands to catch most every entry pass and has a polished jump hook and a workable drop step move to the basket. An intimidating shot blocking force at the high school level.

my guess is Danny will trade him for nothing at the deadline like he did to Erden ;D
Except Erden was constantly injured and, all in all, is an inferior player.

Yea, Erden was a weaker shot blocker and didn't have this mid range jumper that Stiemsma seems to have.

He is too weak defensively to put on a par with Kendrick. Offensively has a better shooting touch than Perk, but we are not really looking for much offense from that spot.

Its only 4 games but I think he may have shown he's more than a third string type of player.

Time will tell. Hard to be too "real" after a game like this. Let's just hope the C's got lucky and have one of those Reggie Williams, Chris Anderson, Chuck Hayes type of NBDL finds that happen to some many other teams.

Yes, but he was a much better finisher around the basket, much better with the ball in his hands, and might have been a better one on one defender (that remains to be seen).

Either way, they are both end of the bench guys who can give you minutes if needed, but not someone you count on to be in the rotation.

debatable because that offense is very tough to match
see brown pj
but i hear you and he needs to learn how to box out
and when i say box out i dont mean reboundsi mean offensive player back to the basket just in case

Here's the only question:
when he gets a pass or a rebound, does he gather, scowl, gather some more, then go up for his shot?

  Don't dis the scowl.

He's second in the league in BPG, granted the season just started. Effort was still put to get to that spot, though. His defensive rotations are good, and other than the occasional let down on 1on1 defense, he is in Perkins' league. Perkins is still far better, but he's not in another league than Stiemsma. One thing i'm very sure Perkins is best at is hacking and banging. Other than that, there's few differences in their game.

Plus, there are very few capable centers that have a good outside touch while are very good defenders.

Sure wasn't tonight.

Not only was he not better than Stiemsma tonight, he couldn't even play AT ALL.  He might have all the skills, but what use is that if he can't even play?

Stiemsma is showing that he's a keeper.

While his play so far is encouraging, I wouldn't be too optimistic about how much Stiemsma will "develop" or "learn," or "fill out."

He's two years older than Bynum and three years older than McGee or Kevin Love. Heck, he's three months older than Dwight Howard, and only a year younger than Perkins and Al Jefferson.
