Rondo played 41 minutes.  My perception has been that if Rondo goes nuts earlier in the game, he seems to slow down later in the game.  Even young players can get tired.  My concern is that Doc tries to lessen the Big Three's minutes by leaning on Rondo more, but I think Rondo breaks down a bit if overused.  That's why I was happy the Celtics acquired a credible back-up point guard in Dooling, who I hope to see play 10-15 mpg.

Doc was coaching to win the game and when Rondo was off the floor our offense was breaking down. I don't think he'll play 40 minutes a game, especially when Pierce is available again.

Doc may have said he liked our bench, but the fact that Rondo, Garnett, and Allen combined for nearly 120 minutes of playing time is an implicit statement of how "useful" our bench was.

because he stopped shooting! Only player that could create his own offense.
He only took 2 shots in the last quarter---(maybe he was tired of getting knocked around!)
Without PP, he needs to average 30 pts a game for us to beat good teams. Once he stopped takin' it to the hoop and NY's D tightened up late in the 4th, you could tell we were in trouble.
BB looked really good. Ray played decent. Sasha and Avery combined for 0 pts 1 reb and 1 asst in 24 minutes--pure waste!
Tuesday will be ugly---real ugly!
Lookin' at +/- 5 games under/over .500 this year, and thats if everyone stays pretty healthy.
Moore, JJJ, and Stiemer see no action--very disappointing.

We truly have the most bi polar fan base in sports (National and International).

One day Rondo isn't a top 10 point guard who cannot create his own shot, the next day Chris Paul can't hold a candle to Rondo.  ::)

I also thought Brandon Bass played like an absolute beast yesterday. Love that trade as I think he gives us the toughness down low that no one else on the roster can.

I found lack of playing time for Wilcox perplexing.  He was one of biggest signings.  Lack of practice or no we need to get him out there.

I think it had something to do with how Bass was playing and the fact that O'Neal seemed in okay shape. Wilcox should get 10-15 minutes a game though, maybe it had something to do with him not having the schemes down yet?

BTW: Sasha has to be the most useless player on any NBA roster. Still trying to figure out why hes back

31pts 13 assists 5 steals 5 rebounds, Awful! ::)

lol...yeah I sure hope he doesn't have a game like that vs MIA tomorrow.

If he does, we will surely win.

Keep it up, Rondo!

Honestly, Moore should've got Sasha's minutes, Quis should've started and Thank God Triple-J didn't play. Good thing Santa put him on the naughty list and Doc answered Santa's call!
Jameer an elite PG?Please, ask that to his garbage highlights.

Already said this in another thread but I need to repeat. I am not a big Sasha fan, but numbers dont lie. Look at the box score and play by play on NBA.com to verify. Carmelo scored 20 points in the second half. 16 were while Sasha was on the bench. Playing with an injured wrist, replacing Pierce as the starting SF? The guy is not going to have his jumper until his wrist is healed and that is his primary weapon. He ran the floor and his defense was just as good as Marquis, at least on paper.

Playing a rookie, undersized, low 2nd rounder, SG that weighs 190 lbs, only practiced 2 weeks with the team at most in his place? Really? Wow, I just dont understand some peoples thought process on that one.

This is going to be a rough enough season until Pierce is healthy and then still be rough because we have the Heat, Bulls, Magic, a vastly improved Knicks team all to contend with at a minimum.

Rondo played one helluva game yesterday but my main concern going forth is he can'e keep banging out 40 minutes a night.

We need Keyon Dooling and Marquis Daniels to step forth at some point.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

He played 40+ minutes in 25 out of 68 regular season games last year.  I think we're going to see stretches where Doc plays Rondo too many minutes for a few games in a row and he follows that up with a stinker of a game where he walks the ball up the court on offense and takes plays off on defense because he's been ridden too hard.

One of Ainge's biggest mistakes I think has been looking for combo guards out of the belief that Rondo is such a stud that any good backup point guard who can only play only one position is a luxury.  The team would be better with a poor man's Rondo who is a good distributor and a good defender with a poor jumpshot as the backup 1 rather than a scoring shooting guard in a point guard's body.

I am no rondo apologist and to be honest I wont even go back to read the original op. But the title of the thread is just craziness.

He played a great game, kept us in it, got us the lead and then could have been more aggressive at the end. That is the reality. If he deserves any definitive credit it is for carrying us through 3 quarters, KG had 3 good looks and couldnt make 1 late in that game.
