The Lakers are going to get crucified by any big man who is a high level jump shooter. Their big men cannot defend the perimeter, close down shooters or recover to the shooter after the pick and pop. They are in dead in the water against these types of guys.
Lamar Odom was a great defensive weapon against those types of players because he had both the quickness/agility to cover them but also the size, length and nose for the ball to keep the integrity of their interior defense + rebounding in tact.
Neither Pau Gasol or Andrew Bynum can do that job. Nor can Troy Murphy. Josh McRoberts is the only serviceable (defense/rebounding) solution against these types of scoring threats.
Oh yeah, Al Harrington, yes, 21 points in 28 minutes on 8-16 shooting (and 2 FTs). Had his way with LA's defense, spread them out and let Denver pick them apart.
