I'd kind of like to see Dallas go small and start Dirk and Odom alongside one another.

Play run and gun.

Eh, maybe if they keep struggling, they'll consider making a radical shift like that.

Derrick Favors is a very impressive finisher in the paint. Uses his strength very well for such a young player. Good size, athleticism and length too. Tough guy to stop once he gets good position in the paint.

His one problem has been early foul trouble.  When that happens he plays tentative.  Makes me wonder if he and Big Al can actually be compatible together.  Al was down with an ankle last night (DNP), so maybe something to keep an eye on since the Jazz are in major transition and seem to love Kanter.  I'd be happy to see Big Al come back...

Watching Denver choke away the lead late against the Lakers . . .

I swear, against the Lakers and the Heat it always seems like teams find some way to mess up their chances to win.  It's like they just get extra tense because they're playing the Heat or the Lakers and they fumble away the game.  So frustrating to watch.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Gallinari has an open layup and he completely misses it, after airballing a good look for a 3.  Lakers got gifted this game.

Gallinari just gave the Lakers a belated Christmas present.

Oh me, oh my, how did Gallo miss that?

Denver had multiple opportunities to win that game down the stretch and threw away every single one. Missed dunk, missed layup, wide open jump shots clanked. Fastbreaks not capitalized on. Awful play.

I hated George Karl going with Andre Miller and Ty Lawson together down the stretch. I thought that took some bite out of their defense + took the ball out of Lawson's hands too much offensively + added a non-shooter for the Lakers to cheat off of on defense. They would have done much better with Afflalo on the floor instead of A.Miller down the stretch.

Lakers get Bynum back, and decide to wake up and start Barnes.  Suddenly look like they have life again.  Need to add to that bench, though...

It's like I said . . . teams just give away games versus the Lakers and the Heat.  It really seems like there's an extra "spotlight of the moment" put on games against those teams and a lot of players tighten up and make blunders at the worst times.  I feel like that gives the Lakers / Heat each at least a solid 3-4 extra wins.

The Lawson misses at the free throw line too.

I was amazed the Lakers didn't get into Bynum every possession down the stretch.  Nene couldn't even bother him.

The Lakers are going to get crucified by any big man who is a high level jump shooter. Their big men cannot defend the perimeter, close down shooters or recover to the shooter after the pick and pop. They are in dead in the water against these types of guys.

Lamar Odom was a great defensive weapon against those types of players because he had both the quickness/agility to cover them but also the size, length and nose for the ball to keep the integrity of their interior defense + rebounding in tact.

Neither Pau Gasol or Andrew Bynum can do that job. Nor can Troy Murphy. Josh McRoberts is the only serviceable (defense/rebounding) solution against these types of scoring threats.

Oh yeah, Al Harrington, yes, 21 points in 28 minutes on 8-16 shooting (and 2 FTs). Had his way with LA's defense, spread them out and let Denver pick them apart.

Andrew Bynum finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds. He looked great, best player on the court.

Kobe Bryant one assist away from a triple double with 17, 10 and 9. He had four turnovers and shot only 6-18 from the floor though. That wrist looks like it is bothering him hugely whenever he puts the ball on the floor. So many mishandling miscues.

Watching the Pacers pre-game show.  Wow...Quinn Buckner is officially bald on top.  Not the shaved variety, but bald on top with hair all around the sides.  LOL!!  We are all getting older as tomorrow reminds us...
