yup, if Pietrus signs with us, it will fix some of the damage of losing green...an athletic wing defender who can hit the 3.

a bench of Dooling, Marquis, Pietrus, Bass, Wilcox would make us a pretty deep team

I would have wanted him on our team if he didn't have that knee issue.

Hypothetical Question: If you knew that you were being traded to the Toronto Raptors, how would your knee feel?

If Air France has expressed a desire to play here (read championship contender)how do you think he (his knee   )felt when he was gonna maybe end up on that crap team we just beat with our 3rd stringers.

Not saying that he personally misrepresented anything to the Raptors about his physical condition, necessarily. I'm sure that he was much more subtle than that.

of course there are reasons why he's available, but all we have to offer is the vet min and a chance to play with an aging group of hall of famers and a moody point guard in a cold city

Again, what are the options? Sure, he's not Paul Pierce; however, who else can we get for the minimum who can do what Pietrus does?

Pietrus would be a nice pick up.  He can play either wing spot, which would give us a legit 10 man rotation without having to rely on one of the youngsters or Sasha.

Bradley, Moore, Sasha, JJ, Stiemsa is not a bad way to round out the deep bench.  Hey, they beat the Toronto Raptors last night.  

That's pretty much a surplus of swing guys if he signs on.  I'd cut Sasha and bring in another Center, which I still think we need.

When one of our wings is the highly injury prone Marquis Daniels, our starting small forward is starting the season on the bench, and Pietrus himself is coming off an injury, then I think the surplus might be a good thing.  

I hear you about the bigs, but we are up to six on the roster including the rookie and the d-leaguer.  Although JO is brittle and KG's getting longer and longer in the tooth, we are actually starting the season with all bigs healthy and active.

At some point you run a risk of being thin in one spot or the other.  I'll take Pietrus to round out the roster.

As far as being worried about depth at the center position (and being wary of Jermaine's health), are there realistically any quality centers out there who we can sign instead?  It doesn't seem like it.  So, I say, let's go with what we have, add Pietrus, and if JO goes down before the deadline, then we make some kind of move like talking the Vanilla Gorilla out of retirement.

Yeah....I'd rather give it to a hungry young guy than a hurt mediocre vet that other teams wanted no part of.  To me any vet we get needs to be better than Etwaun Moore. Or JuJuan Johnson. Or Avery Bradley. Otherwise I'm not sure what the point is.

He's not old, he's 29, and he is hungry, he gave up $$ in his buyout to have a chance to play for a contender. Also, the guys you mentioned won't be anywhere near Pietrus' ability to contribute   for another 2-3 years, if ever.

To be overly excited about adding Pietrus to the Celtics would be an understatement... This would be crazy awesome beyond words.
