This is great and all, but I wished my Celtics had that same level of loyalty when Leon Powe wrecked his knee playing hurt for the playoffs with KG out a few seasons ago.
Not to be jaded, but it's easier to be loyal when it doesn't cost the club much to do so. In Powe's case, throwing him a minimum deal right away wasn't deemed to be cost effective, so they waited until he secured the same deal elsewhere before throwing their half hearted deal out there.
It still bothers me three seasons later that the Cs didn't stand by Powe, who played on a bad knee in the playoffs in a contract year to help his shorthanded team, because they were shorthanded without KG.
