I don´t understand Ainge's attitude, we need two or three reinforcements, Pavlovic? Bradley?, They are no good for Boston.

Ainge's attitude makes perfect sense to me.  The Celtics aren't likely to get a veteran wing who is better than Pavlovic, unless you find someone who is a headcase or a Jermaine O'Neal-level injury risk.  The Celtics need young players like Bradley (or Moore or Johnson or even Gilbert Brown) to step up and provide an unexpected boost to the bench for the team to contend.

Now that pre-season is underway, Ainge is probably going to go with a stable roster for a few months unless someone falls into his lap or there is an injury.  Center depth is still a much bigger concern than wing depth and Ainge should be concentrating on finding some big man depth.  If there is a center equivalent of Pavlovic, that would be useful.

Pavlovic was actually hired as soon as the Celtics had the first test results from Jeff Green. So why wouldnt Ainge be satisfied, he already acquired the backup.  And looking at the market, there are not a lot of options for the vet. min.

Pavlovic is not a star, but as a 12th-15th man on the roster, we could do worse.

Marquis doesn't get out muscled by threes. He is actually really strong, and one of our best post players (when he has the match up) He played pf/c in college.
He is a good post player due to his footwork, finishing touch, and ability to get his shot off with no space.  Strength has nothing to do with it, in fact very rarely does he attempt to use strength to gain advantage or create room (backing down, pushing off).  He's a finesse player who relies on his slashing to get inside, not a guy that bangs down low.

You even say he's one of our best post players when he has the match-up....all the more reason not to play him against guys that are bigger than him.  He has enough length for the 3 (which is why he's dangerous vs. 2s) but most of these guys have up to 50 pounds on him.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Pavolic really isn't that bad of a player. He is no superstar, but he certainly can give this team some productive minutes.

So I guess they will probably look for a backup center and SG? those are the two most important positions of need. We need a SG who can hit the open 3 and defend Wade. I am thinking Stevenson is probably the best option .

Best new I've had all day  :-\

agreed, think of scal spot starting for us, no star but he didn't hurt us
sasha is a good defensive player who can hit the long ball, also shows vet mind set, doesn't mind playing 5 minutes or 20 (not unlike scal)
good guy to have that far down the bench i think

I completely agree with loosecannon on this. The Celtics roster is pretty much set at this point, and we'll see how we do. Injuries are going to be a major factor across teams this year, and there could be some surprises about who the "contenders" are come March. Nice thing about it if the Cs are a non-contender -- March is trade deadline time.
Celtics fan for life.

we've tried the old injury prone vets before and it hasnt exactly worked out to our favor...maybe this can be the year that the celtics Actually develop/play the rookies?
