Best of luck to Jeff, thats going to be a grueling process. In terms of basketball and moving forward we officially have nothing to show for the Perkins trade (karma if you ask me - you never put business in front of family and thats the way we treated Perk) and without any additional cap room because were already over the tax threshold we cannot make any impact signings. Hate to say it but this season might have just taken a huge hit and our chances right along with it.
we do have something to show for the Perkins trade, the clippers 2012 1st round pick, which is better than what we would have had now if we hadn't made the trade, which is nothing, because Perkins would have signed with another team anyway.
How do you know that Perkins wouldn't have re-signed here?
If he was going to sign elsewhere, how do you know that Ainge couldn't have flipped him for a player and a pick as good as what the Clippers 2012 pick is going to be (20 or so).
With this news, which no one could have seen as coming, the Perkins trade is an unmitigated disaster. the only way that changes is if the pick becomes a starter, and even then, I'd rather have a defensive minded center who fits in perfectly with the Big 4, than a future starter.
