Can JJJ play the SF position.  The knock on this guy is his inside game needs improvement, but his jumper is very sweet. Can he play backup SF minutes ? ? ?

No. I saw him in college a couple of times. Doesn't have the lateral movement or footwork and agility to play the 3.

Just checking his size indicated maybe.
Jeff Green 6'9"  235lbs
Jajuan Johnson 6'10"  221lbs.

TP to the OP...I think that he has the physical tools to play the 3/4 a la Jeff Green and Rashard Lewis.

In June, NBDdraftnet thought so too:

Strengths: A long, tall forward with good scoring instincts ... Is a legit 6'10" in shoes with a long 7'2" wingspan ... Has very impressive leaping ability with unusual explosiveness for a big man ... Tied for having the highest maximum jump reach in the 2011 NBA Draft Combine, getting as high as 12'1.5" ... Frequent target for ally-oops and lob passes ... Very agile and mobile ... Has the speed to play the small forward position at the next level ... Really improved his scoring ability every year he was at school ... Has a smooth and refined turnaround jumper, which is very difficult to defend due to his length ... Has shooting range out to around 18 feet from the basket ... Has become a real threat in the post ... Nice-looking hook shot from the left side of the rim, with a soft touch and a high release point ... A factor on the offensive glass, gets a lot of tip-ins and put-backs ... Great free throw shooter (80.9%) that gets to the stripe a lot (209 attempts in 2010-2011) ... Moves his feet well on defense ... Big-time shot blocker, averaging 2.3 per game ... Had a successful 4-year career at Purdue ...

Plus he's a lot stronger than either of those guys.

Why not? I'm sure the guy is willing to learn and would love to contribute in any way possible...I'm sure he'd rather play SF than ride the bench.

Jjuan had plenty of time to work on strength this off season; but from the pictures he looks rail thin. Am concerned he does not have the work ethic. Marcus Camby was skinny too; but he was extremely fit.

Get at it Jjuan!

Personally I think he sees very little court time this year other than games in which O'Neal and/or KG are held out, like in game 3 of 3 games in 4 nights, game 5 of 5 games in 7 nights, or during that brutal 5 games in 6 night stretch in April.

Other than that with JO, KG, Bass and Wilcox ahead of him, I think he sits or spends time between Boston bench and the NBDL.

His frame is not thick, but don't worry about his stregth.

JJJ can bench 330 and at the combine finished 9th overall with, I think, 12 reps of 185.

Very few athletes in any sport other than football can press 100 lbs over his weight.

JJ is not a 3.  No experience at that position, not enough offensive skill, not enough quickness defensively.  Not going to happen.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

I agree.

If Doc is going to have someone play out of position and still have success, its going to be a veteran, not a rookie with no NBA experience that the team wants to groom as a power forward for their future. Why mess with the kid's had before he even gets his feet wet.

He's a power forward. Its that simple. Train him for that position and let him learn the nuances of the position before throwing him to wolves and have him try to learn a position he hasn't ever played.

They wont mess around with JJ and they shouldnt.

I think this guy has a talent to be another KG.

Yep...I said it. When I look at the clips of him I see three very important things.

1. Amazing athleticism
2. A calmness in his game
3. Versatility. He shoots a very difficult to block high release shot and he plays the post comfortably as well as can run like a gazelle.

We shal see. Once Doc is brave enough to throw him in, I think he will respond.

This is pretty crazy if true. I can bench 185 way more times than 12, but I cant lift anywhere near 330. Thats a lot.  I wouldnt think many basketball players could do that much.
