Orlando PR man Joel Glass calls to inform that D. Howard's agent now has permission to speak w/ Lakers, Nets, & Mavs about possible trade.

- Sam Amick on Twitter.

Anybody but the Lakers please.

good lord.  the moves danny made today has me feeling excited for this year, even if i don't think it changes much for our playoff prospects.

but if the lakers get dwight howard and cp3 after all, my interest in the nba would be back in the toilet.  i really, really hope dwight goes to the nets.
Dwight will end up in LA and it's going to be ridiculous. It wont even be fair best PG and C at there postions on the same team, can nearly say the same thing about Kobe it will be insane.

He'll talk to NJ and whoever the third team is but he's headed to the Lakers to team up with his buddies especially since Paul will be there by the weekend.

unless Orlando is okay with trading Dwight for Bynum straight up, how does that happen?  Dwight has no leverage.  this isn't a Carmelo Anthony situation.  the Lakers won't have the cap space to sign Dwight in the off-season.  if Dwight makes it to free agency, he won't sign with the Lakers.  Dwight only goes there via trade, and the Lakers are likely trading every last trade asset they have other than Bynum to get Chris Paul.
He's likely to go to the Nets if the Magic don't want Bynum and little else.

Will come down to how Smith views Lopez versus Bynum, along with whatever picks/assets come along.

there's also the clippers.  some of the assets they didn't want to give up for paul, they might be willing to give up for howard.  dwight might be happy playing in LA on the "other" team with griffin.

gordon + kaman + t-wolves pick + deandre jordan (sign and trade) would have to be good enough, right?  could even throw in aminu if necessary.

clippers trot out lineup of mo williams, butler, turkoglu, griffin, howard.  awesome.

Warriors are pursuing DeAndre Jordan and I don't know if the Clippers will match the rumoured 10mil/yr.

yeah, i read about that.  doesn't mean the clippers couldn't still sign and trade deandre to the magic.

it's not like the deal would be a non-starter without deandre in it.  gordon + twolves pick is already arguably a better deal than just bynum.  throw in aminu and kaman's expiring deal and that has to be hard to pass up for the magic.

I guess preventing superteams doesn't apply to the lakers.

It is their "RIGHT" to  cherry pick  any players they desire.  When one gets little past 30 yrs old , then time to reload ....simply open the door and the players walk in.
One day ...I predict when Kobe is gone they will raid OKC and Clipper teams of all their prime age Superstar talent .  I'm sure the master plan is already in the works to steal their talent .
Breaking news; the lakers have just traded the rights of 5 of their conference championships and 3 future championship protected playoff appearances to the Houston Rockets for the rights to Hakeem and the 95, 96 championships.

Hmmmm, if Biedrins is amnestied, that would be a decent pickup for Boston.

We couldn't pay him more than $3M, right?

Not worth $3 million. I'd rather spend that money on someone useful.

Dwight Howard has told the Orlando Magic that he wants to be traded, Magic General Manager Otis Smith told the Orlando Sentinel Saturday afternoon.

Smith said Howard has made the request twice in separate conversations since Monday.

Quote
On Friday, Smith gave Howard’s camp permission to have contact with officials from three teams — the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Jersey Nets — and seek a trade.

Quote
Smith also said he could trade Howard to a team not on Howard’s list. But any team not on Howard’s list would be taking a risk that Howard would not re-sign there long-term; that risk likely will limit the quality of those teams’ offers.

We all know he's going to the Lakers.  Let's just get it done already, so that the league can have its dream scenario.  Four or five relevant franchises, and 25 also-rans.

Yeah, you can expect Dwight to be traded to LA shortly after they land CP3. Media will go gaga over it and forget the rest.
