I'm so glad its a one year deal. Need as much cap space as possible next year. Good job by Danny thus far.

For who? The only high quality players are going to be DH, CP3 and Dwill. Dwill isn't coming here and unless a trade is done CP3 isn't either (trade seems highly unlikely at this point). DH is not coming to the Celtics, I don't know why nobody accepts this. So the space is for nada.

As a GM, he can't assume that and share your thoughts. He needs to gives it his best, and he can only do that if he has the cap space.

Yeah I get that but he would still have space with JG on the books next year. My concern is that Green is gonna be more expensive then since his last season brought his price down a lot. I mean not max room but enough to get some good guys.

Green is one of the better players he could get next year anyway. I think after giving it some thought it is a good idea to have him coming off the books just to keep options open since you never know what could happen to change things.

I still don't see those big names coming here but you never know. I do think DH is possible but highly unlikely.

Good.  Filling out the bench nicely.  With our newfound glut of guys who can play 4 hopefully we can use him exclusively at the 3.

Yeah I think there's very little chance barring an injury that he plays many minutes at the 4. That's something I'm very happy about.

My only concern is if he does play really well this year he's going to get paid next year.

I look at it the other way: Let's hope that we HAVE to pay him a lot of money next year.

Haha I like the way you think. I think he's going to do very well this year (fingers crossed).

The lockout and short signing period helped the Cs here.  In a normal off season, if RFA Green gets a godfather deal from another team, the Cs would have been looking at nothing but a future #1 pick for Perkins.  Now they get a full season of Jeff green to grow into his role here as a super 6th man as a big SF off the bench.

Green as a UFA next summer gives Ainge more flexibility as he builds for the post Big 3 era.

I've got the same feeling.

If Green agreed to a one year deal and did not just take the qualifying offer that means that Danny can deal him at some point this year whereas, if he takes the QO then he's on the team all year.

Gotta say I never expected Green to be on this team this year but knew if he was it would have to be a one year deal. He better play better than he did last year.

If  he takes the QO he can still be traded, but only if he approves as his bird rights go poof!

I wonder if it is a normal one year deal for that reason, or if he got some extra money.

i hope he worked on his ball handling he will play alot of the 3 spot. he could really be amazing if he could slash because he can finish with either hand

We definitely need another shooter on this roster. We have a ton of slashers here and not enough shooters to space the floor with.

I would be happy with that.  And if they can't get Hamilton, I would be happy carrying the MLE over, and using it to throw at one of the guys coming from China in March.  Kenyon Martin would be a heck of a March pickup.

They could also trade for a high salary player.

I read on the celtics blog on ESPN Boston that Broussard reported it was a one year deal for 9 million.

I don't know why but I have had a feeling all year since even before the lockout that Green will have a breakout year and is going to be huge.
