At least Bass can dunk the ball - that's more than Baby could accomplish even with no defenders in sight.   I did hear that Stan Van Gundy was not a big Bass fan because of poor defense...I can't see that playing very well with Doc and KG.

I swore to myself I wouldn't read a thing about the NBA until the lockout was over....but now it is....so I'm back.  You may all celebrate.   ;D

We clearly got the better end of this trade. Bass is a lot more cut and has a major spring in his step so he's definitely an upgrade over Davis. He's also a better team player than Big Baby.

There is absolutely no evidence of this. As a matter of fact, there is evidence of Bass being quite a poor  team player (hence the nickname "No Pass" Bass).

His nickname will be 'The Amazing Bass-O-Matic', and I'm not even going to discuss it further. Not for a freakin second.

Do you believe that anyone could be more of a black hole than Big Baby? Find that hard to believe unless the player's name is Kobe Bryant.

Big Baby isn't really an excellent distrubtor though, he took a lot of terrible mid range shots.

Plus he already had a nickname otherwise he could have been Glen "the biggest loser" Davis (since he reportedly failed his weight clauses in his contract and this forced him to lose money in the form of a fine).

Do we really want to get into a discussion of nicknames when the other guy is nicknamed "Big Baby"?

Also, BBD has a reputation as a black hole himself.  I'm not sure that's the best way to decide how good of a teammate somebody is.

Bass shoots 50 percent from the floor, 83 percent from the line for his career. His per 36 minute averages are 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Big Baby shoots 45 percent from the floor, 71 percent from the line. Per 36 minutes he averages 13 pts, 7 reb. Also, he's nuts.

I don't care how many charges Davis takes, this is a good deal for the Celts.

We clearly got the better end of this trade. Bass is a lot more cut and has a major spring in his step so he's definitely an upgrade over Davis. He's also a better team player than Big Baby.
I happen to like the trade because I think Davis wore out his welcome with front office, coaching staff and team mates but I think it ridiculous to judge who got the better of this deal based on how "cut" a player looks or how high he can jump. That's absurd.

I think we got the better of the deal because we are making pretty much an overall lateral move but will be on the hook for about $18 million less.

Or $22 million less.  After BBD just established Bass' market value for him ($6.5m+), there's no way that Bass exercises his $4 million player option next season (barring injury).
