I think Ainge was going to dodge that contract no matter what.  I'm just glad he got a useful piece.  If trading Big Baby had been what brought in Keyon Dooling, I would have been satisfied with acquiring an adequate backup PG (which I don't think precludes Delonte West coming back, since it sounds like Von Wafer is history).

I just can't see BBD and SVG together.  Good luck with that.

Like the trade.

Oh, boy...

Imagine the size of his ego after signing that contract...

I think BBD is about to get his feelings hurt.

I expect Baby to do well down there.  He was always great value for us here, but we simply weren't going to pay him what he wanted.  I always felt he was a bit under-appreciated here.  He wasn't great, but he was valuable, and he did a remarkably good job guarding behemoth centers.  I remember him being particularly effective against Big-Z, and sometimes Howard.  Thought he was actually less effective as a PF.

Good luck to him, and I hope Bass works out for us.

While Bass is not really a better player than Davis, he is not nearly the headcase, and even more importantly, he is only signed for 1 year and a player option (and if he plays well this year, there is a great chance he will turn down that option).

I expect Bass to exercise his Player's Option on the last year of his contract.  Unless a team offers him $5M or higher, I see no incentive for him to leave a decent to good situation in Boston for the 2012-2013 season.  That is, it'll be him and JuJaun Johnson at power forward unless Ainge trades him next off-season.

Also, I doubt Bass averages 26.1 MPG off the bench behind Garnett.  And I believe that Johnson could see time off the bench in a limited role as well.

Basically, $4M is a lot of money for a second level player to walk away from.

When Boston plays Orlando, how effective do people see BBD at guarding Kevin Garnett?

He gets slapped around like a screen door during a hurricane.

Bass will not be as good defensively.

He may look better on offense, but the overall game will not be as positive as BBD.

EDIT: the fact I got this video to work is a miracle.

Things I like (albeit from watching this one game):

-Moves well without the ball, intuitive
-Not afraid to go up underneath and shows (slightly) better vertical than Baby
-Good midrange shooter, a better KG backup
-Similar offense should make integration easier

Things I don't like:
-Not a phenomenal athlete
-A bit short
-Streaky player, I hope he can be more consistent

Altogether, I feel that this player represents an upgrade over Baby, although not a significant one. Brandon Bass, please prove me right!  ;D
