Billups could also go to Indiana...

The real question is that with NY out of the way, is CP3 more willing to sign an extension in LA with the Clippers? If so then that pretty much eliminates us from the running.
He's not signing an extension anywhere, it'd cost him 30 million potentially.

I think Chandler going to NY would help us, removes NY as an option in FA and removes the lure of reuniting with Chandler.

Handshake agreement that he would do after the year...

That's not an extension, Boozer showed that handshake deals can be broken too.

Gotta think it's a trade that puts Chandler in NY. Something like below.

Turiaf and Billups to Dallas (both on last year of deal)
for
Barea and Chandler (Both S+T)
No they can gain enough cap room by using amnesty on Billups along with letting some players go.

Handshake agreement for what, the MLE or so? How much cap room would they have? And how close is the $14M in space someone was talking about to having enough space to trade for CP3? That should be the bigger concern...

It only eliminates us from the running if they will trade Gordon for him Paul.  And I don't think they will.

It would be bc they have his bird rights and  would be the only team to give him a real MAX deal. You just said he wouldn't leave 30 mill on the table, so what is your point?

The Clippers will surely offer Gordon now that CP has no other options in the summer.

And it's rumoured the Knicks plan to offer Amare Stoudamire for CP3!

Huh?

You're the arguing that a handshake deal would happen not me.

He could only sign an extension for less years if he's traded than he could get as a FA, he won't do that it'd be silly. Better to become a FA and decide on his options then.

Unless for some reason NOH want Amar'e for paul, which makes no sense at all.

Billups' still in dark on Knicks next move with him: amnesty, trade into cap space...or: Possible sign-and-trade with Dallas for Chandler?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Knicks have privately assured people that if they trade Billups instead of using amnesty on him, he's destined for a "good team." Dallas?

Am I crazy for liking Chandler on that team better than CP3, assuming they can sign a competent point guard?

Chandler next to Amare is a great pairing for the Knicks.  Amare for CP3 would just leave them without a post presence.

Who knows, maybe they can flip some pieces and become the Hornets East by adding David West, too.

The Lakers can't afford Howard in free agency.
