KBergCBS:
Multiple league executives say the Knicks are now in the lead to land Tyson Chandler, jumping in front of the Warriors.

KBergCBS:
If the deal goes through, the Knicks use amnesty on Chauncey Billups and move Ronny Turiaf to make room for Chandler, sources say.

This would make the Knicks a much more serious threat imo.

According to Ken Berger, the Knicks have jumped in the league to land Tyson Chandler.

According to his sources, they will amnesty Chauncey, and trade Ronny Turiaf to make room to sign Chandler.

This could be a game changer, because it would take NY out of the running for signing Paul as a FA next summer.

Interesting.  Wonder where Billups would end up?  Miami is my guess.  Yuck.

The Knicks would improve a lot in one area by adding Tyson, but get a lot worse in another by getting rid of Billups.  Seems a pretty obvious move to become more attractive for Chris Paul next summer.

They would be pretty [dang] good even with all scrubs, Melo and Amare are missing a defensive force/center

Bad News: That combined with Hill, makes the Knicks a lot more difficult to deal with.

Good News: We are significantly less likely to have to play against Cp3 in a Knicks uniform. The Warriors become a less attractive destination to the Cp3, which won't help convince them to include Curry in the deal.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I fear Billups will go to the Heat if he is amnestied. :-\

The question is, who plays PG?  If they pull this off, it would then create the "space exception", so they can sign someone for I believe $2.5 million, even after they hit the cap.  And depending on the size of Chandler's contract (and perhaps he would take a small discount in NY), they could make a bid on a guy like Baron Davis if he is Amnestied.

But again, the thing to take away from this is that it would take the Knicks out of the running for Paul as a free agent next summer, and really makes the only remaining threat to the C's (at least IMO) the Clippers.  And who goes to the Clippers for a paycut?

If Billups gets amnestied, would he get picked up by a team with cap space, or would he pass through and become a free agent?

Imagine if Billups ends up in Miami. He'd be a terrific addition down there.

yup, i have to imagine that's where he'd end up, unless some team actually wants to take on the last year of his contract.

No CP3 and no Howard for NY.

This also increases CP3's trade value, because it limits his options next summer.

I hope it happens.  And yes, if they amnestied Chauncey and moved Turiaf's expiring contract, they'd have cap space to sign him.  Intriguing.

With only one year remaining on his deal a team with cap space will certainly put a bid on him.

It would just sway Paul to his original plan and stick out west and team up with Kobe  ::)
