with the news of nets offering brooke lopez & 2 1st rounders for dwight started i really think we have a shot at dwight & cp3 we'll porbbaly need a 3rd & maybe 4th team & trade kg's & ray's exp contracts to do so but its worth it especially since i think kg & ray wud get bought out but with cp3 not willing to sign an extension im not reading too much into trading rondo anymore

I wouldn't specifically limit this to just Howard, but, I do agree with the sentiment of the OP.

I'm still not sold on CP3 being this infinitely better talent than Rondo.  Argue all day on how much better CP3 is.  CP3 is absolutely not $5m/season better.

Beyond that, I don't particularly like CP3.  There is just something about his personality and demeanor that irritates me.  I'm sure I'd learn to like him if was in green, and would definitely root for him.

Also, they're just tea leaves, but, it does seem as if CP3 has no desire to play in Boston.  Rumor has it his "people" have made it known he would not sign an extension here.

New Orleans takes slightly more shots late in the shot clock than the Celts do. And CP3 isn't much of a threat to attack the hoop either.

You can't really argue that Rajon Rondo's shot creating abilities near the hoop are better by a substantial margin. Rajon Rondo had 3, sometimes 4 capable jumpshooters and/or potential hall of famers around him most of the time he's on the floor. On top of that, he had one of the best defensive units in basketball to help create turnovers, which how the majority of those 'shots at the rim' occur.

The rest of the New Orleans Hornets are abysmally bad, with only David West providing a real scary scoring threat. They had to lean on Marco Bellinili and Marcus Thornton, two woefully inadequate players to be considered big rotation players on a playoff team.

CP3's inside numbers a few years ago were on par with Rondo's numbers now. Paul's inside numbers are down, as is his scoring, as is his clutch scoring. You have to look at that. If he regains his explosiveness it's a great trade. If all the rumors about his knee are true then people need to realize they're not getting the MVP caliber player he was before the injury.

I saw the blog front page. Not really surprised, there.

I'm sorry I can't see NY (even with CP3) beating Boston - as long as we stay healthy.

CP3-Carmelo-Amare? You have 1 elite defender out of that group, and two average-to-mediocre ones.

That won't change under D'Antoni.

Spike Lee will be crying on Momma Ray's shoulders once again next June, just watch ;D:

Since when have the LA Clippers become a desirable location and the greatest team in NBA history undesirable?

Wouldn't it be nice if these guys just wanted to play basketball?
eh times change.

I guess so. We can't even lure the best players to NBA royalty. They all want the bright lights. Ridiculous.

yeah, players don't care about the history of a team.  they care about the guys they'd be playing with, the city they'd be playing in, and their chances of winning a championship.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/216863/Paul_Uninterested_In_Signing_Extension_With_Celtics

"Chris Paul is not interested in signing an extension with the Celtics, according to a source close to the situation.

Boston has been mentioned as a team that is angling to execute a trade for Paul.

Chris Broussard has reported on Monday that Paul's preference is to end up with the Knicks and that he would also consider the Clippers.

Via Chris Broussard/ESPN (via Twitter)"

there goes that dream.

I guess Danny got what he wanted- an answer to the question early on so it didn't mess with Rondo's head too much.

Now to plan B. Or should I say plan D 12.

Keep Rondo and go after the big guy I guess.
Was a fun few days dabbling at the idea of both of them in green.
CP3 wants the bright lights of LA or NYC.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Honestly, this is the first time I ever though of all the cap space next year as a negative.

All I know is that Rondo is hyper competitive and I'm going to love watching the next game against CP3.

Boston will still be a desirable location for other free agents though. So many players want to play with Rondo. If Jajuan Johnson works out it will help a lot too. His body might not be quite ready but I have high hopes.

I'd trade any of the Big Three to get DH and CP here.  Even just DH.

They've got their greatest trade value now as big expiring contracts, and it looks as if the return value may be available in the next month.

you should wait till more sources confirms it is true, but I wouldn't be surprised by that anyway.

[dang].

We're definitely going to struggle to try to recruit another superstar to carry this team after next year.

I don't want CP3 at all.  His knees are a disaster waiting to happen.  Google Chris Paul and knees... Keep Rondo...

That stinks!  I hope he changes his mind.  Remember KG didn't want to come here at first either.
