I was thinking of this because of the trade Rondo for Jeremy Lin posts. Lin has been good for a week and people are already on that train. It took Cam Newton about two weeks to declare him a future HOFer. Tebow won for like 2 months straight and people said he was horrid.

1. Let's be kind and say that the people calling for a trade of Rondo for Lin are....misguided and hasty.

2. I don't recall anyone claiming Cam Newton was a future HOFer at anytime last season. I do believe they crowned him winner of the Rookie of the Year award fairly early but come the end of the year, yeah, he won it and deservedly so.

3. The Denver Broncos won for two straight months and Tebow is a horrid quarterback. He's a hell of a football player. No doubt about that. But he is a horrid quarterback.

C'mon, Nick - you are undoubtedly one of my favorite posters here, but to call Tebow a "horrid" quarterback, lol?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v17lMr0j2D8&feature=related

How about "A good, at times excellent, QB that is (and will) improve...especially since Legend John Elway is committed to personally helping him to get better?"

There - that's better :).

Okay, how about a currently horrid professional quarterback that was an exceptional college quarterback and has the potential to maybe become a good professional quarterback.

But he is a heck of a football player. He has excellent running instincts, excellent ability to cut and speed up off the cut, tremendous toughness and lower body strength that allows him to avoid tackles, and a much better than average leadership abilities and ability to perform in the biggest moments.

But as a professional quarterback, he is horrid.

You know the boaEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.l pride those players in Pittsburgh have, my guess is they wouldn't disagree with me. They would claim they had a really bad day. ;D

i think he is a little over the top with the religious stuff, but it doesn't bother me.  he is free to believe in what he wants and express himself as he wants.  he isn't bothering anyone by doing so.

i think he does a lot of great things and seems like a genuine nice guy.  i hope he doesn't tarnish it by actually being an jerk, similar to how tiger woods appeared to be a good guy at first.

he is good for professional sports imo

lol..I can't disagree with you, there.

Brian Urlacher (CHI) said something similar along those lines after an interviewer asked him about Tebow (after Tim had engineered a miraculous comeback on them last season).

He begrudgingly said he was a good "player." ;D

Sore loser.

Tebow is a hell of a football player. He's strong, decently fast and smart. Unfortunately, he's not athletic enough to play running back in the NFL. So, he's a hell of a football player who's stuck in a league with a whole bunch of better football players.

More unfortunately for Tebow, he is in fact a horrid QB. You can talk about willing to win and intangibles all you want, the Broncos were not good offensively with him at QB. They had a stretch of victories predicated on fantastic defense and good play by McGahee.

Tebow completed less than 50% of his passes this year. That's not just horrid, it's historically bad when you consider today's rules. He's roughly in the same category as JaMarcus Russell and Derek Anderson in terms of accuracy. Sure, he's a great guy and can run the football, but is he really any better than Joe Webb? When that becomes a serious question, it doesn't bode well for a player's future success in the NFL. There are passes that any quarterback should be able to make 10/10 times that Tebow can't hit 50% of the time. Look at the Patriots games, where Tebow missed 10-yard out routes by a good 2-3 yards. That's absolutely inexcusable for an NFL QB to do consistently.

I think Tebow could be the ultimate wildcat QB, because he can throw a decent deep ball and run fairly effectively. However, an offense based around Tebow is destined to fail, as evidenced by the Broncos' anemic offensive numbers this year.

Tebow had a far more successful first year starting than Manning and a higher QB rating too and without Marvin Harrison to throw to

What about Peyton's second season, where he completed 62% of his passes and had 26 TDs vs. Tebow's second season where he completed 46% of his passes and had 12 TDs.

*Completely ignoring your first year argument which has a whole bunch of flaws, but there's no way I'm getting into it.

Hey. Speaking of sports double standards last week Phil Mickelson hit a ball into a guy's pants, then pulled out a sharpie, signed his glove, and gave it to the guy. But when TO scored a touchdown and pulled a sharpie out of his sock it was a big deal.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/golf-devil-ball-golf/play-where-lies-mickelson-tee-shot-ends-fan-230546776.html

Also I'm still waiting for Ben and Jerry's Tebowmania flavor. Come on guys. Hurry up.
