Everyone should know by now on who they going to kept and who they are going to drop. So I voted Dec 1st.

I will say I disagree with that.  I think a lot of teams would ideally have a training camp and pre-season to see how things play out.

In my case, I have two slots for three players.  I'd love a better handle on who to keep, but sadly, that's in all likelihood not going to happen this year.

I still don't see why we have to put a cap on the number of trades. If the two GMs involved are okay with it, then I'm okay too.

EDIT: If health of the league is a concern, put a complete halt on trades until the lockout ends...not a cap.

Haha.  Maybe there should be a cap on trades with certain GMs only.  I think Wiggle is implementing the anti-Naturals rule. ;)

But seriously, I don't have a strong preference on this, either.  If there was momentum for a cap on trades, I would adjust, as I'm sure we all would.

If this proposal fails, I'm asking for right of first refusal on all players offered to Roy.

Wait, was the cap on playoff F.A.s the anti-Draft Dodgers rule?

It should have been, but alas, my intent was nowhere near so devious in proposing that rule.  In all the leagues where I'm the Commish, there's a strict cap on playoff adds; it's that belief that once you're in the playoffs, your roster should remain set and you should ride the horses that got you there, rather than some guy who didn't play a single game for you in the regular season.

Well, to make it less controversial, maybe we shouldn't allow FA signings after the trade dead line...let the two coincide.

Which is nice for the guy that can pull a new and improved roster out of a hat three weeks before the playoffs. ;)

Deal awaiting the commish's approval:

Toine's Boys send Marcin Gortat

Designated Drinkers send their own 2012 1st round pick.

thoughts?

-my point of view: I'm punting on a season that is probably lost by trading my best center in order to have a high draft pick in a loaded draft and take the chance that I get a franchise player out of it.

I would say that this one is about fair.  I like it for both teams
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

thanks for your opinion Rondo. I do think it's a fair deal as well.

Great, thanks commish. I also voted for Dec 1st as a cut down date. Might as well move things along is my feeling.

Oops. Just realized that I posted in this thread.

Let's keep the discussion in this one strictly for the roster deadline decision, shall we?

13 of 20 votes cast. Would be great if we could have at least a 75% response.

[with the assumption that only league GMs are voting here, of course]

Well, now that there is a tentative agreement to starting the season, do we move forward with the Dec 1 cut-down date, or go with something more in-line with the NBA's own deadline (probably after training camps open on Dec 9)?
