My anger is starting to go back to the players again. Mostly because I expect this level of greed and narcissism out of these owners, but not necessarily the players.

This surprises me a bit.  My perception of the modern athlete is that they're usually (but not always) driven by money, and that almost by nature, they're narcissistic.  I'm surprised to hear another fan say they don't have those perceptions of NBA athletes at all.

I guess this type of ego and greed (missed games, maybe season over percentage points) strikes me differently than how I'd definitely characterize them.

I look at your average player kind of like Lebron's decision to go to Miami - money motivated to an extent, but was willing to concede a bit of money in order to play on a team w/ his superstar friends.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'm definitely going to boycott the NBA until they end this darned lock out.
???  What does that mean?

NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS, BUT ITS PROVOCATIVE! IT GETS THE PEOPLE GOIN!

I read a review of the tour on GQ online, it seems like Kanye goes crazy just yelling "NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IT MEEEEEEEANS"

I know I am. I was out with a couple of buddies the weekend before halloween and we were just screaming it. Heaven forbid anyone said 'I don't know what that means' in front of us.

IP...I am beyond anger...I am at disgust and hurt, but if someone injects a little humor in this, I am all for it.  I didn't take the comment to be provocative or incendiary, I thought it was funny.  You are obviously still in the angry stage, and I understand that.

The owners and players have aptly pointed out that this is NOT the fans game, it is theirs and they will fight it out on  their own terms.  I will undoubtedly follow the Celtics again, I tried to quit before, and couldn't.  I will have a hard time cheering for any current player again, though. If I am in New England during the season I will make every effort to see the.....Red Claws play.  If the season does start this year...or next year...I will most probably get NBAtv and continue chatting and following the blog and the online Celtics radio shows.

These people are all so egotistical and (this IS an intentional slur) dumb, that there is nothing left to do but laugh at them.  Their "principles" and "principals" are costing them dearly(both sides), and they can't even seem to see it. The fan and the ordinary NBA related working people do not appear to be  even a slight consideration to them.  I WILL  laugh at jokes at their expense...they have earned my laughter and derision.

Thank you for being the only one to appreciate my joke.

I'm pretty bummed, too.

Stern's letter to the player's union:

Quote
“Rather than simply proceeding, as we could have, to offer a less favorable proposal at this time, the N.B.A. is providing an additional period of time for the players association to consider our 50/50 proposal,” Stern wrote. “We are hopeful that the prospect of a less favorable outcome for the players will prompt the players association to realize that the best deal that can be reached is the one the N.B.A. is prepared to make right now.”

Stern closes, “Billy, I sincerely hope that we can reach an agreement over the next few days.”

Sidenote: I wonder how guys like Berger, Hahn and Beck feel about the lockout continuing. This lockout has done wonders for their careers and reputations, but I question how well read they'll be at the conclusion of the lockout.

I have been following Hahn for a while now, and I definitely plan on following Berger once this is over.  Hopefully he can keep things rolling, and is just as good at covering basketball as he is covering the lockout.

The other guy who has benefited greatly from the lockout is Chris Sheridan.  I wonder if he would have had anywhere near as much success launching his own site, if it weren't for the lockout.  His site is one-stop shopping for all the best lockout coverage, and I can't say I would have ever checked it out if it weren't for his lockout stuff.

I agree on Chris Sheridan.  I heard him on an  internet radio show, and have been checking his blog since.  I really appreciate his reporting and background  knowledge of the situation and people involved.

Absolutely. Hadn't the least idea he had left ESPN to be honest.

I hope I'm wrong, but that sounds like the final nail in the coffin of an 2011-2012 NBA season right there.

Stern just said on "Mike and Mike" that he wouldn't state what the season end deadline would be, but the players have until Wednesday to accept 50%...then the offer will drop to 47%.

Oh, I have to get off for a while, but I should have mentioned that Chris Sheridan's site is "Sheridan Hoops" and I believe he said that is his twitter, also.

I'm out of my mind angry right now. Just steamed beyond belief. It's going to be real hard to consciously give this game my money going forward.
