I think we discussed the date of the draft often and early enough that people should be ready and if they are not, waiting a week won't really change things. I would be in favor of doing the draft this week as we scheduled, or at the latest next week, and people who don't show up get the bpa for their picks unless they submit a list of preferences to lucky.

My draft lists are complete, so if this week is a go for both Points and H2H league drafts, it's fine by me.

However, I am not adverse to trading those picks away, but the deals must be done this afternoon. I will only have sketchy reception via iphone-in-the-wilderness until next Sunday.

Yea, as much as I like stashing foreign players, I'm not feeling it either. I think if you want to stash a player you should be willing to sacrifice a roster slot for it. I'm in for the draft this thursday, and PTS league next week is cool with me.

I'm down for tossing it out too.  My position was either let everyone do it or no one, don't just do it for foreign guys. It's probably more trouble than it's worth to do it, so tossing it out works for me.

Next, I am still in favor of 1/3 votes required to ratify league rule changes and for overturning/vetoing trades, but others have voiced other preferences. I'd like some greater consensus/feedback on this.

Lastly, while I remain opposed to trading picks (including those with protection clauses) more than 1 year into the future, I see we did agree as a league to allow next season's draft picks (e.g., 2013-14 picks) to be traded on this upcoming draft day.

Because we are (less than) 48 hours away from draft day, I'll be announcing trades that involve 2012-13 and/or 2013-14 picks, so that people will have ample time to submit a veto vote, if needed. I'll be announcing these trades shortly.

1/3 vote is ok with me too, although I see both sides to the argument, I agree that we rarely seem to have all GMs around at the same time to expect to get an actual 50% vote.

I think allowing 1/3 of the league to veto a trade is ridiculous. 

In hindsight, does anybody really believe that KG + Odom + #4 pick for Steph Curry (and his 26 games played) + #18 was a trade that should have been vetoed?  That veto was never about fairness, though; as people basically admitted at the time, they didn't want to see the "rich get richer".  (Nice one...  now the "rich" have KG, Odom, and a high-lottery pick instead of a point guard coming off a bad season and something like seven ankle injuries and multiple surgeries.)

I have to admit that it should not have been vetoed, and I had actually brought up Steph Curry's bad ankle back then (an ankle issue that may be chronic imo, as with Dwight Howard's back issue that people forget about). It worked out well in your favor though Roy.

Right or wrong, I think a trade that compels 7 out of 20 GMs to exercise their veto power is probably one that should be vetoed.

I say this as someone who doesn't use his veto power lightly.
