I'm all for the one international prospect spot per team.  I mean, come on, who doesn't love prospecting?

The problem is that there's no great mechanism to add these prospects to our roster, unless they're already there.  A team with 16 players can't claim them off of waivers, meaning that there's an inherent advantage for teams who already own guys playing abroad.  They'll get to take advantage of essentially a 17 player roster, whereas teams with all NBA players will only be able to have 16 players.

It's a neat concept, and I'd like to discuss it a little further.  It would have to go into effect with next year's draft (since lots of folks have already made roster decisions), but it's worth discussing. 

True, in this current situation it would benefit those teams whose players went overseas due to the lockout issue.  But beyond that and using second round picks on overseas prospects seems more in line of what this would be used for.

I know Roy's since edited his quoted comment above, but a reminder that a rule like the one WW is suggesting (which I support BTW) we'd have to wait until the summer 2012 draft to give all teams equal shot at exercising the rule.

We did that with the lottery change this summer, after accepting it it will take effect next draft.

not to quibble Lucky, but we'd probably wnat to discuss & implement (assuming a yes vote) BEFORE the draft since it would affect how/who people would draft.

Or are you saying that since people have already dealt picks that they might have used for stashing a overseas guy we should wait until the 2013 draft?

Seems small enough impact a rule that it wouldn't be necessary to wait, but maybe we should get the OK by the 10 teams that have moved 2nd rounders...

Not too happy to give up Haslem but I'm banking on Reggie getting some decent minutes in Charlotte...he signed a 2 year deal today and everybody knows Charlotte is in need of some offense...hopefully Reggie can provide it.

Plus, it saves me some time...I was going to cut Ford tomorrow.

Haslem was the key to the deal for me. I know Reg just signed in CHA, but I don't see him outperforming his GS numbers by too much there. Of course now that i've said that he totally will
