Question:

How do signings work after the cut-down date? do we just wait until the players/teams have been uploaded into Yahoo! and then hit up the waiver wire??

Yep.

Cut deadline deal between Toine's Boys and MMSB awaiting commish's approval.

Just give us the names like this:

Brussell Nextbrook for Pal Lefferson

 ;D

alright, here is the deal pending Lukcy's Stern like veto:

Hpantzo and MMSB have come to an agreed deal...

Hpantazo sends Aaron Brooks, Glen Davis, Kyle Singler, Lucky's 2nd and the better of YH/GC's 2nd for

Ed Davis, Marreese Speights, Bismack Biyombo, and Tyler Honeycutt

I'm curious to hear MMSB's reasons for doing the trade.  I seem to remember MMSB giving up a fair amount to get Davis, and for a rebuilding team, I am curious about trading a guy like that (and Biyombo).  Singler is not playing this year in the nba, Brooks is stuck in China.

I am not attacking the trade, just curious to hear MMSB's reasoning...

Stealth tank?

I dont think MMSB would do that.  but even if he would (and I dont believe he would), why trade the 13th pick last year and the 7th pick this year?

that is why I am so confused by the deal.  he is building a young team through trades and the draft.  so this one was a head scratcher.

To tell you guys the honest truth.... When I agreed to this trade, I didn't realize that Singler wasn't coming back to the NBA this season.  All I knew was that I remembered hearing he had been playing great ball over there during the lockout.  I should've done a bit more homework.

I did realize Brooks wouldn't be playing this year but I really like his game and think he will be a starting PG somewhere next season.  I also get 2 2nd's which I can use to make some more moves - which I will.

Beyond that, I needed to cut down my roster.  I planned on keeping Davis and do think he will be a good player, but I am not thinking he will be an all-star anytime soon - I also had a number of PF's - so someone had to go...

Looking back now, this probably was a dumb move on my part but I do think BBD will have a nice season (possibly better than Davis) and I got some chips to move.

Who else wants to take advantage of me? :-) I am looking to make some more moves before the roster cuts...

TP to Hpantazo for a good trade

It wasn't a bad trade for you Bacon imo. Brooks is going to be a starting pg who has proven he can get 19 and 6 a night in the NBA, and Glen Davis is going to put up good numbers as a starter. Singler also has shown flashes of potential, and two 2nds in a deep draft are always useful. Ed Davis may be an all-star big man one day, but it is a risk that I took imo, because unlike Brooks and Glen Davis, Ed Davis and Biyombo have not proven themselves in the NBA yet. I do like Speights though, I hope he finally gets to play this year. TP for a good trade. Good luck.

  • Ainge *still* has a Posse! Ubuntu Y'all
as Lucky suspected, this deal means that my right to swap 2nd rounders with Rondo's 2nd now evaporates.

I'm glad to welcome Ed Davis to Toine's Boys, I see a long career for him on this team.

At the risk of opening the can of worms... this is exactly why I raised a fuss about these complicated swaps during "swapgate" and why I think 2nd rounders should only be allowed to be traded on their own (rather than option of the lesser/better pick). Since it's too late to amend the rules for this year, i'll wait and introduce it for next year.

In any case......So that I can properly record who has what pick.... am I correct that this is how the picks break down:

Toine's Boys had traded for GC's and YH's 2nd rounders:

Quote
Toine's Boys send Brandon Rush and Earl Clark --> Designated Drinkers send Beno Udrih and Yall Hate's 2012 2nd rounder

Toine's Boys send Beno Udrih --> Lucky17 sends Spencer Hawes and Gainesville Celtics 2012 2nd rounder

TB then made these 2 moves involving those picks:

Quote
Naturals trade Avery Bradley and Naturals 2012 2nd rounder (makes moot protection in 26) --> Toine's Boys trade lesser of Yall Hate's and Gainesville Celtics' 2012 2nd rounders

Toine's Boys send Aaron Brooks, Glen Davis, Kyle Singler, Lucky's 2nd and the better of YH/GC's 2nd --> Make Me Some Bacon send Ed Davis, Marreese Speights, Bismack Biyombo, and Tyler Honeycutt

Therefore...

MMSB gets the better of the GC/YH 2nd rounders
Naturals get the lesser (i.e. worse) of GC/YH 2nd rounders

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
My roster's ready to be cut down...but I'm still looking to move:

Jamal Crawford
Kyle Lowry
Boris Diaw
Paul Millsap
Luis Scola
Zach Randolph
and Jason Thompson

Give me a shout if you're looking to make a deal.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Tomorrow evening, 9 PM.

Anyone in this thread at that time tomorrow night can help me make cuts for those who haven't done so.

Here's a rule proposal for next season that might not be as unpopular as my push to cut the Utility spot:

Allow team's to carry the rights to one international player, acquired through the draft (Valanciunas, Mirotic, Singler etc., this season) or previously on the roster (Chandler, Brooks, Smith) with the understanding that whenever the player signs in the NBA that team must immediately make a cut to create roster space or lose the player's rights.

This could be included on the roster document as easily as we track the myriad conditional second round picks. And to prevent prospecting, managers, such as myself, wouldn't be allowed to sign and hold international F.A.s from previous draft classes, the Fran Vasquezes of the world. Could be a benefit to those teams drafting a lottery talent still playing overseas? I hated seeing the Bacon drop Rubio two years ago, but it was defensible given how hard it is to compete nightly carrying place holders.

I am all for this rule, I think it's a great idea.
