My group of merry losers was never in contention but the other top contenders should just wave the white flag now and crown Roy as the champion again.

I felt that way after Roy's previous deal, this one just cements it for me.

Exactly...and that's what I said to him as well.

Thanks, guys, but don't cancel the season yet.  (Feel free to pass that memo along to the players and owners as well.)

breaking news on a deal to report:

Toine's Boys send Joe Johnson and Designated Drinkers 2nd rounder

Kwhit send Chase Budinger and Aaron Brooks

Awaiting commish's approval. Thought's?

Wow.

Wow.

2nd deal in a few days where I'd asked about a player, the price was way too high, then the player gets moved for 70cents on the dollar.

When I asked 2 days ago about JJ, Big Al Jefferson's name was tossed out by his owner... quite a step down to a backup PG and a backup SF. Guess I shoulda countered with Randy Foye and Mike Miller; :-X

I hear your frustration, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I've had the same experience happen several times, when somebody makes seemingly outlandish demands, followed by them pulling the trigger on what seems to me to be a bad deal.  It happens.  Heck, it happened at the NBA level with the Pau Gasol / Lakers deal (or at least many thought at the time).  The best thing to do is just get back to trading.

Like Roy said, it depends on how you view the players. Budinger and Brooks are not backup players. They are both very young and promising, which is what I was looking for. Budinger came into his own late last season as a starter who put up big numbers for the rockets, and Brooks has already proven himself to be a very productive starter in the NBA before his falling out in houston. I love the potential of both of these guys going forward. Brooks alone may match JJ's numbers a year from now. I had 2 other offers I seriously considered for JJ. One had 2 young players that I did not prefer as much as these 2, The other had a better younger player in return but was asking for more than JJ and a 2nd rounder and didn't get back to me in time before I accepted this offer.

GC, I was straightfoward in negotiating with you. There are no other young promising players on your roster that I would want other than Big Al and Westbrook, and having Rondo deterred me from asking for Westbrook. I did mention I could offer more than JJ in return, but when you responded stating that it was unlikely I could offer enough, I let it go. TP for posting your thoughts, I hope to trade with you sometime again in the future.

True.... i hope no one takes the rantings of a down-on-his-luck fantasy GM as anything but that. I certainly meant no ill will and didn't mean to suggest that you or any other GMs havent' been straightforward.

Hpantazo was direct in saying what he wanted... that's all you can ask for. I was just surprised I guess by the return on Joe J.

You can only deal with the players you have and each GM values each player(s) differently... i think that's part of what makes this all fun. I'm sure there have been deals where people think "Man he told me he wanted X then took 1/2 of that from someone eles".

It *does* come down to player valuation. In this league I'm lower on Budinger and Brooks than in real life or in the points league, and probably higher on JJ than most.

Que sera sera... and ubuntu!

(and hey it's awesome to see all the wheelin' and dealin' in the h2h league which is usually a bit more staid.)

No worries GC, I'm always glad to hear people's thoughts on trades, even if they think the moves were not in my favor, that's half the fun of being in these 2 leagues, I know I have surely made a fair share of poor trades, and will do so again.  It does come down to the fact that all GMs value players differently, and I sometimes have a hard time separating my real life values/biases of players from fantasy values. I love all the trade action going on though, and I always want to get involved in it! Hopefully we get an actual season so that I can have something else to do for fun rather than trading all my players away.

My initial number crunching doesn't really bear this out. The Nats have some great talent, but Wins/Losses are gonna be somewhat schedule dependent in any given matchup with a few of us teams that were in the playoffs last year.

Gainesville Celtics aren't backing down & aren't done making moves... I suspect a few other teams are in the same boat.

IMO, teams that feel out of it would be wise to not just stock up on young talent but on productive older guys that teams like us will look to add at the trade deadline!

You're crunching numbers at this stage?!  I wouldn't even know where to start.

I hear you, I'm stuck in front of the computer all weekend as well, writing a research article. It may cause me to trade away my whole team in both leagues, LOL.
