Bad karma for firing Jeff Jagodzinski for merely interviewing for a NFL head coaching position.

not bad karma, bad recruiting ever since.
they go hand in hand.

call it what you want . . . BC doesn't get the same level of prospects, it seems, and the players also don't have the same level of discipline or show the same development.

long story short, **** gene defilippo.

They're sending their share of players into the pros: Ryan, Raji, Herzlich...

Those 3 players were all recruited / developed while Jags was the coach.  Same can be said for Anthony Castonzo, I believe (who was drafted by the Colts this year).

The current best player on the team, Luke Koechly, may have been recruited by Jags as well, I'm not sure.  Point being, the talent level has clearly dropped now that the players recruited during the previous coach's tenure are filtering out.

Mike Siravo has been the recruiting coordinator at BC since 2007.  If you go to Rivals you can see who recruited which players, it does appear there was some turnover (though not much) the last couple of seasons.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Surely their ability to convince recruits to commit to BC is affected by the credibility / resume of the head coach, though -- not to mention the track record of the athletic department.  Players don't want to come to a school to play for an inexperienced head coach, and they don't want to play for a coach that might get fired without warning a year or two into their college career.

They need a new recruiter.  Clearly, the talent level has dropped.

Nailed it.

Spaz can't bring in the talent.  After the Jags situation, Gene-O tried to go the cheap route and elevated a career assistant coach to head coach because they didn't want to spend a lot of money on a legitimate head coach.

Unfortunately, their replacement can't recruit worth a lick and seems to be a step behind with the times and the current climate of college football.

What's also striking & telling, is how many older alumni are disgusted with DeFillipo.  I've heard multiple stories of decades-long season ticket holders having enough and declined to renew over the past few years.  Also, pretty telling was the bombardment of my email account about purchasing season tickets back in August.

Certainly, troubling times with BC football.  Maybe rock bottom is what they need.

Confirmed. I went to a game years ago. It was BC/BYU with Matt Ryan and John Beck. Went into overtime. I have never stopped getting emails.
