0-3 start to this season, including an absolutely shameful 20-19 loss to Duke this afternoon (lost on a missed 23 yard field goal . . . bleh).

When does it become time to think about firing coach Spaz?  The team has gotten worse every year since he's taken over.  I can't say whether he's just poorly suited to being a head coach (he was defensive coordinator for many years before this), or if his lack of cred has simply led to really weak recruiting, but clearly something has to change.

With 4 of the next 5 games against solid A.C.C. opponents, BC looks primed to start the year 1-7, 2-6, or even 0-8.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Bad karma for firing Jeff Jagodzinski for merely interviewing for a NFL head coaching position.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

call it what you want . . . BC doesn't get the same level of prospects, it seems, and the players also don't have the same level of discipline or show the same development.

They're sending their share of players into the pros: Ryan, Raji, Heinlich...

Spaz was a good assistant coach, but head coach seems to be too much responsibility for him.  Against Duke they played 10 yards off the wideouts the whole game.  Duke threw quick outs to them the whole game, it was their bread and butter play,  and BC never adjusted by bringing their defensive backs up closer to the line.

At the end of the game they didn't manage the final series with much poise.  Once the were in short field goal range, they should have just let the clock run down to about 5 seconds, while they moved the ball to the middle of the field for the game ending field goal.  Instead, they had the quarterback spiking the ball way too early, and ran their last play to the left, not to the middle, so the field goal try came from the left hashmark (and hit the left upright).  Of course, he still should have made it, but it's little things that win close games.  It's the head coache's job to cover all the bases.

They need a new recruiter.  Clearly, the talent level has dropped.

Nailed it.

Spaz can't bring in the talent.  After the Jags situation, Gene-O tried to go the cheap route and elevated a career assistant coach to head coach because they didn't want to spend a lot of money on a legitimate head coach.

Unfortunately, their replacement can't recruit worth a lick and seems to be a step behind with the times and the current climate of college football.

What's also striking & telling, is how many older alumni are disgusted with DeFillipo.  I've heard multiple stories of decades-long season ticket holders having enough and declined to renew over the past few years.  Also, pretty telling was the bombardment of my email account about purchasing season tickets back in August.

Certainly, troubling times with BC football.  Maybe rock bottom is what they need.

Too bad schools dont get a top draft pick for tanking.

But it motivates ADs to make changes needed to be more competitive.

What if the change most needed is a new AD?

What if the change most needed is a new AD?

Then it motivates the school president to make the move.

Maybe, but not if they are dead set on saving money and making "loyalty" hires with head coaching.

If the AD sucks, you can't do much (as Donoghus pointed out).
