Portland wouldn't do this trade. Not enough value for them.
exactly. Camby is essentially Perkins. Obviously he is much older, but that is his role. Excellent rebounder, solid defender, not much offensively. JO is essentially done and Davis has very little value around the league. I just don't see what is in this for Portland. I would do it from the C's perspective, but not if I'm the Blazers.
And how exactly does this trade free up money for the Blazers to sign Oden, when you put JO and Davis together they will be over 9 million and Davis probably gets a multi-year contract. That doesn't save money at all.
I'm still all for a big gamble if I'm the C's by taking on Roy, Camby, and Oden for Garnett and Allen. If they wanted Davis, I'd include him as well. This is the sort of trade that the C's need to make. Sure it is a big time gamble on the health spectrum, but if even one of Oden or Roy can stay healthy, it positions the C's much better going forward and keeps them in title contention and if both can stay healthy, makes the C's one of the favorites.
