Haha, I love IP's pub, I was waiting long and hard for someone to pick Swearengen.  That's badass.

I've been waiting for someone to notice that I just swooped in and got the best bartender in the world without even trying. He's a cutthroat businessman, who knows how to bend an ear if there is a dollar in it for him, a dapper nigh on shakespearian accent, and he's one of the most deadly guys selected so far.

I mean..Dalton and Blade are plenty awesome, but you guys went and picked heroes. Swearengen would eat Dalton alive.

And Blade? Swearengen would just call the IRS and be done with it.

Plus, he's a loyal guy who is great at making connections and forming alliances.  Especially political ones.  He'll make a ton of money for your saloon, and a lot of it illegally.

He was also first and foremost a pimp, so you've got that going for you.  These days you can just call them dancers.  If the commish decides to outlaw that stuff, so what?  Swearengen was a master at breaking the rules and getting away with it unnoticed.

You were already the winner of "best Old Western saloon" in my mind since it was the only one that had whiskey.  Swearengen just makes it unfair.

Uh... hate to be the contrarian again but I for one don't go to a bar to be assualted, worry that the feds are gonna bust in and get the bartender, try and decipher some odd accent, worry about tax-evading-vampire-whatever-ninjas or pretend to be in the Old West.

The Rank & File is where it's at... a good place to have a great time with good friends. Show your union card and get a $1 off your next drink!

Ah GC, you need to revisit Deadwood.

GC in a happy day I will probably "most likely" go to your bar say hi to Mr. T, drink delicious drinks, and give him permission to kick my behind, just for the fun of it, and then I will go to deadwoods tabern IPs and have half bottle of scotch watching a firegun fight and ends
falling into a horse drinking canoe

youre doing a great job

The big question:  would Swearagen work for somebody else?  I get the sense that he'd prefer to be in business for himself.

I had IP pegged for somebody from the Deadwood universe, but I didn't expect it to be Swearagen.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
Like my old manager used to say, "What do you get when you cross a bartender with a gorilla?  An ape that steals from you."

Swearengen will make a profit for himself one way or another, but IP probably won't see much of it.
