Chimay Grand Reserve


This picture is a 3 liter bottle that we were given last year at our wedding from some friends (I took the pic next to a bottle of wine just for scale).  It needs to sit for 7 years and our plan is to gather with these friends on our 7th anniversary and then pop the bottle and drink it all.

I haven't had Grand Reserve, but I'm a big fan of the Chimay brewery.

great plan --- the only thing i don't like about the Chimay's (and similar beers) is that they're so expensive.

Chimay Grand Reserve

That's an awesome present and a great beer.

For whatever reason I love the red and blue Chimay, but really don't care for the beige.

I'm surprised some people have never heard of scorpion bowls.  The wife and I share them whenever we see them on the menu, mostly at Asian establishments.

Brings me back to the old days when I first started working out of college in Boston and hitting up the Hong Kong...

Those were some long happy hours.....

Yea Hong Kong's happy hour with the scorpion bowls and apps is a good time.

I haven't been there in years, but Hong Kong got many a good night started during law school.  

When i lived in Somerville I worked 2 blocks away from the Hong Kong and walked by there every morning and sadly never went into the Hong Kong #fail?

There's 2 Hong Kongs, one in Cambridge and one in Boston. I've found the one in Boston considerably more fun, but it's definitely a younger, fanuel hall bar.

Though Cambridge has a lot more room.

The one in Boston definitely has the character.  Went to the one in Harvard Square (Cambridge) a couple of times but it just wasn't the same.

Something about being downtown and happy hour and the whole Hong Kong scene.

Look what I picked up today at one of my accounts as a tribute to Redz...



As a bonus, I now have my own "Beer Guy".  Apparently this guy buys enough beer at his store that he can get his hands on some highly allocated stuff that he doesn't display and just doles out to a few people.  I am now one of the lucky few and picked up a few treats today that may make my list.  He is actually expecting to get some Dark Lord in and will hold it for me.  Also, he absolutely loved the CB Pub Draft Draught when I told him about it!
