david west ahead of joe johnson. smh the list is dumb & stupid not even worth my time to look at the rest of the list (not just cuz of the joe johnson thing ,thats 1 of the many screw ups)

I understand that one.  19/8/2/51% vs. 18/4/5/44%, plus West played better defense and is slotted at a more coveted position.  They're both similar players, and I can see somebody going either way, but I don't think it's outrageous *if* you believe West will bounce back from his injury.

  • Rondo = Good
Rondo behind Tony Parker?

Ehm.

I think Rondo's ranking was about right, but I'd definitely put him ahead of Tony Parker.  Although I suppose considering how bad Rondo played for the last couple months of the regular season, you could make the argument Tony was better.  But Rondo played a lot better in the playoffs.

The thing I don't get is that West is ranked higher than Bogut, yet Bogut is 26, and will be a year and a half removed from his injury by the time the season starts. 100% healthy, Bogut has been a lot better.

ESPN is doing a top 500 players and have started with the 401-500 grouping:

Cool.  So far only three Celtics in the bottom 100, our two rookies and Sasha Pavlovic.  Surprisingly, I didn't see Avery Bradley's name on the list yet.

Durant at #8 is too low in my opinion.  At the very least, he needs to be above Deron.

A little surprised to see that myself but this is one man's opinion so quirks will occur.

Wonder what the ESPN list will look like given that is more a committee of people putting together the list.

When you put "Durant" and "#8" together, it sounds too low for him, but really, there's no way he's ahead of Lebron, Dwight, Wade, CP3, and Dirk.  Personally, I think Rose and Kobe are ahead of him also.  Then I'd list Durant at 8 and Deron 9.

But watching that clip of him go lights out at rucker park... Man, I can see if somebody wants to rank him higher

I'd probably put Durant fourth.  Dirk is a hot player right now, but if I was building a team for next year only, I'd put Durant only behind Lebron/Wade/Howard (in whatever order).

Ranking the players is always an entertaining but stupid thing, so it fits with the lockout thirst for basketball news.

That said, I liked Lowe's picks until top 25. There's no way Nene is 24 and Kevin Love 21, with Tim Duncan 23? Kevin Love? Really?

Then Blake Griffin over anyone from 15 to 20, but most of all, Paul Pierce. Nope.

Lamarcus Aldridge is a monster, but Russell Westbrook at 12??? Tony Parker and Rondo over him everyday and twice on sundays. Anyone watched him in the playoffs?

And then, the top 10, completely awful. LeBron at #1? And Kobe over Chris Paul, who was still recovering from surgery and almost singlehandedly destroyed a Lakers team who features Gasol and Odom and Wilt Kareem Bynum? Zach Lowe must be a laker fan and is still bitter from watching the first round.

If the point is ranking who would you choose to start building your franchise, then IMO Howard is #1, and LeBron is #2, then I'm torn between CP3 and Durant, and #5 would be Wade.

Aldridge at 11th seems quite a bit too high to me, even though I like Aldridge.  Am I underrating him severely?  When given the choice between Aldridge and Amare, I'd take Amare every time.
