The only thing I'd really like to see improve is the team rosters thread, which was pretty slow at getting updated last year too.  I noticed after I sent my vote that the guy who was doing it didn't even have his roster right and that made me worry my entire rankings were wrong.

I know it's hard to keep up, but I'd love to at least see it up to date by the time the regular season voting begins.

The guy who was doing it underestimated the amount of work involved. Keeping pace with the draft board was easy, but parsing trades - particularly later blockbusters - proved to be difficult. Also GMs like yourself who posted their rosters to the thread just once or just never didn't make the guy's life any easier. Anyone who updated their roster daily in thread had a daily updated roster.

But, okay, yes, the guy, did forget to swap Garnett for Gasol on his own team. The Jazz's roster was correct though. Maybe subconsciously he wished he'd never made the trade.

We could start a new tradition where the previous year's winner takes on the job in the following draft?

Lol did you regret the KG for Pau trade?

Is there really any reason we can't do another CBD in 6-8 weeks?

The biggest reason is burnout.  By keeping the CB Draft to a once a year thing, it builds anticipation, interest, etc.  Do it to often, and you risk the novelty of it wearing off.

We have four annual drafts:  the CB Draft, the Pick 2 Draft, the Ultimate Draft, and the Historic Draft.  Are there any additional ideas that people would like to explore?

The staff has in the past at least toyed around with the idea of an auction style draft, or a draft involving a salary cap.  Those become a lot more complicated, but it's something to talk about.
I honestly think we already have too many drafts from the burn out standpoint.

Plus I don't think we should tarnish mgent's banner with a lockout inspired draft that's essentially the same thing. He deserves his year to gloat.  ;)

(similarly IP needs to stew in his utter choke job two years running, ala LBJ  :P)

Don't know about anyone else but I would be willing to play another one of these if there is still a lockout going on and it's for sure games will be missed.

Just call mgent's title the summer title and the new one the winter title?

Pokemon draft.  Original 150 only.

I'm in.  List move sets or it doesn't count.
Obviously.

With 6 per squad we could have up to 25 trainers.  Weaknesses/strengths would make for interesting matchups.

Prolly should bump it to the original 250 just so someone can't go, " I have Mewtwo, your team is invalid".

Me and Rondo have been doing some work on the Pub Draft, some fine tuning would need to be done but here's what we got:

Live Entertainment (Singers, Commedians)3 total
Beers, (I like the mainstream and domestic idea)2 of each
Specialty drinks( your favorite shots or mixed drinks) each bar gets to pick 3
Specialty food 1

You better find a way to incorporate Buck Hunter into this.  >:(

Ha. It made basketball sense and made the Jazz my 1st seed. But in hindsight, I could've kept my favorite player, forced him to play center all season, fought with everybody, and finished in exactly the same place in the standings.

I do have a soft spot for Gasol though - the anchor of my CB Fantasy Team for four seasons running.

Oh, I was just teasing. And honestly it wasn't that much work. Most of the moderators updated their own rosters anyway and the majority of GMs did keep me in the loop.

Okay, I just felt bad that it got pushed onto you and thought keeping the thread leaner might have helped.

I remember how much work the draft board was last year, oiy!

Throwing out another idea for a draft during the lockout:

The Pick Two Plus 1 Historic Draft ;)

GMs get assigned a franchise.  They get to pick two historic players + one current player from that franchise.  Then, you do a 10 round draft, just like normal.

So, the Celtics' could look like:

Gerald Green + Brian Scalabrine + Troy Murphy

I think this would be fun, but it could be that I'm trying too hard to come up with ideas.  8)
