  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Please discuss team of the future candidates here.

Any team not currently involved in the Conference Finals (so not the Sixers, Knicks, Kings, or Blazers) is eligible.

Personally this is one of my favorite debates in this draft, and I know I'll be participating. I think 'Team Of The Future' is one of the cooler things we do here, and I hope people take it seriously.

Send votes to CB Draft Voting along with your conference Finals votes

I don't think there is a Team of the Future in this draft.

Maybe Detroit but that would be conditional on Greg Oden getting healthy and staying healthy.

Well the Blazers would've been a fine choice here, had they failed to make the conference Finals.

Miami has a lot of young talent.

Conspiracy

Ty Lawson - 23 years old
Deandre Jordan - 23 years old
Serge Ibaka - 21 years old
Kawhi leonard - 20 years old
Bismack Biyombo - 19 years old

If kept together, this assembly of talent would be absolutely lethal in about 2, 2 and a half seasons.  At that point you're talking Ty Lawson, DeAndre Jordan, and Serge Ibaka just entering their prime years.  Leonard is expected to contribute this year for the Spurs and should be well poised after 2 plus full seasons.

ADD TO THAT you'd have Kevin Martin around, still ballin for a couple of high quality/efficiency seasons.

I'd assume that SJax would be about done by then, if around at all, while JO would be completely finished; however, having those guys around for a season or two to infuse leadership and hard work into those young guys is huge.

Really the only wildcard is Biyombo.  His ceiling is basically unknown.  Having Jordan and Ibaka around means that Biyombo's growth isn't of paramount importantce, BUT, if he did develope into something close to what a lot of scouts predict, he could end up being the best player of the 2011 draft and a defensive gamechanger/all-nba defender.

A 3-man defensive rotation of Ibaka-Jordan-Biyombo is potentially lethal in a way no current team in the NBA possesses. I don't know much about Kawhi Leonard.

Lots of good talent, no potential elite players as I see it.

What about my team as the team of the near future.

Only one rotational player in his 30s.  (Battier)

Aldridge still improving.

Kanter getting a chance to grow on the bench of a playoff team.

You don't think Serge Ibaka or Biyombo have the potential to be elite defensive players? Ibaka already is an elite defensive player with a pretty reliable 15 ft jumpshot.

Aldridge, Granger, Kanter, Fields, and Felton ought to be one of the better foundations out there.

Ha, but its a lot like your team; no superstars but no weaknesses.

He doesn't have the potential to be an elite player, he might develop an elite skill or into an elite role player.

No potential MVPs, no all-nba first talent, that sort of elite player.

I had not even considered you guys. Absolutely. Premier proven young talent at 4/5 starting positions, with Jan Veesly as the wildcard.

Derrick Rose, Brandon Knight, Omri Casspi, Patrick Patterson, Kenneth Faried, Roy Hibbert.

All under the age of 25.

(Heck, might as well throw it out there even though I didn't really consider it)

I'll throw out the Cavaliers (Griffin, Rubio) and Samurai (Love, Jimmer, a ton of other young talent) for consideration.
