  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
So we're done with the drafting phase of the contest today at 4. I'll give those who missed picked until midnight tonight to make them, than the Free Agency day starts at 12:01AM

You can make one pick before noon, and one pick afternoon.

You can never at one time have more than 13 guys on your roster, so if you already have 13, you need to release one before you can take on another.

After that, I'm open to suggestion. We have 3 voting phases: 1) Press release/Hype talk 2) Regular season voting, 3) Playoff Voting with 4 rounds of 'play' based on regular season seeding.

How does everyone think this should be handled? I was thinking of this:

7/25: ATL/PAC Division Pressers
7/26: Central/Northwest Pressers
7/27: Southeast/Southwest Pressers
7/28-7/29: Reg Season Voting
8/1-8/4: Playoffs

Thoughts?

Calendar-wise, I think that's a pretty good schedule.  You really don't want to drag this thing out.  We've seen in the past, the lackluster attention given when things are drawn out.

Yeah I'm worried that a week of pressers is going to put a fork in the momentum.

I'm thinking about only doing 2 days of pressers...but then we'd only have 1 day of regular season voting or something.

Im good with that. But since I'm a rookie GM i wanna make sure what we do in round 1. Do we just make one essay like defense or there's gonna be a debate?

That works for me.  It's good my presser will be on the 27th as I fly out on the 28th.  But I'll still throw in my votes.

Phase 1 (Regular season projections): Press Release, followed by Debate. He helps to be a master-debater. You're arguing how your team would fare against the other 23 teams, not against any one team in particular.

Phase 1A: People vote on how they think the regular season will shake out by division and conference

Phase 2: Playoff teams and seeding are announced, and matchups debate against their opponents only (as opposed to the regular season where you face the league).

Phase 2a: You vote on who wins each playoff matchup.

Phase 3: Crown me champion.

Schedule looks good to me.

I start vacation this weekend, so I may be late or delayed on my presser (Central Division). I'll post and vote as I can.

Let me know which of the 3 days you can have your presser in by (mon, tues, wed), and I'll make sure that day the Central goes.

Also, your team is probably pretty close to done. Just start your presser tonight and PM it to me, and I'll post it for you.

Schedule looks good to me too.  Actually, I do worry about killing the momentum we've been building though...

In honesty, I have to say that I found it hard to be really active over long stretches of time that didn't involve my team at all last summer.  It had a lot to do with guilt about this game taking up a lot of my time.  Here's an alternative I've sketched out:

7/25 10am - 2pm: ATL/PAC Division Pressers
7/25 2pm - 6pm: Central/Northwest Pressers
7/26 10am - 2pm: Southeast/Southwest Pressers
7/26 - 7/27:  Regular season voting
7/27: Playoffs Round 1
7/28: Playoffs Round 2
---weekend---
8/1: Conference Finals
8/2: Finals

8/5: Parade in Pawnee

Initial presser statements can be prepared in advance anyways and most owners have been able to be around during each round of speed-drafting this week, so should be able to make those times.  We can try to accommodate and move divisions around to GMs that absolutely cannot make certain times.  If not, then worst case is IP can post a pre-prepared statement from the GM and some outside posters or cross-conference GMs will help defend questions against that team (I'll even volunteer when possible to defend western conference teams).

We've built a ton of momentum so far and I think this would help keep it up.  But I still like the original schedule a lot too.

Hey IP, what's the updated schedule looking like?  Pawnee has to start planning for the parade.

Also, just wanted to know when votes need to be in by and when results will be announced.

Thanks bud and TP for all your work so far!

Voting is closed for the first round. Results in the morning. I'm on my iPhone now, so it'll have to wait
